Amanda Ellen Tharp was the fourth child and second daughter born to Augustus Milton and
Joanna Dooley Tharp, born July 6, 1858 near Savannah, Davis County, Iowa.
She married Sanford Worth Spurgeon May 27, 1877 in Davis County.
Amanda and Sanford lived their entire married life in Davis County.
Amanda preceeded her husband in death, passing September 26, 1926.
Her daughter Bessie kept a scrap book from which many of these Tharp pictures have been taken.
