Carolina Hochwarth of Helmhof, Baden, Germany, August's first wife.
They came to this country on the same ship in 1882, and married in Illinois in 1883.
She went to a Rochester, Minnesota hospital in November 1916 for the removal of a goiter.
She appeared to be improving nicely when she died peacefully in her sleep.
