SURNAMES: MANN, SWEAZEA
Does anyone know who the JOHN MANN was who was married to Mary L. Sweazea Mann? Her obituary was in the Dec. Newsletter of the Rey.Co. Hist. and Gen. Soc. She was b. about 1855 in Wayne Co., MO. Would like to know if this JOHN MANN was connected to ARNOLD MANN (b. 1798). Arnold Mann was probably the son of a Jacob and Mary Arnold Mann who were in Lincoln County, Kentucky in the late 1780's . (There was also a Thomas, John, Andrew and George who were probably the brother's of Jacob. This assumption is based on the fact they were all in Lincoln County, Kentucky together and that Jacob son's were given these name's as well.) Arnold Mann was first found on the Missouri census, in 1840. He was in Wayne County, Missouri. According to the census, he was age 42 which would establish his birthdate as about 1798. It is unknown where Arnold Mann was living previous to this census. He possibly may have been living with Andrew, Charles, Issac, or James Mann, who were all in Wayne County, Missouri in 1830. Thank you for your time. Brenda in Kansas [email protected]

SURNAMES: FLOYD, SMITH
I am looking for information about my grandmother, GERTRUDE DOVE FLOYD. She married CLARENCE A. SMITH, son of ALBERT H. SMITH who lived in Renolds County in the 1880-?'s I know very little about her. I do know that Clarence and her lived with Albert Smith for a while on his farm at Bills Creek. and that they were married on Sept. 3, 1887. They separated and grandma, I believe, moved to Kirksville with her daughter, Thelma. Clarence ended up in CA. I am curious about the Floyd line and have been told that my grandmother is related to Pretty Boy Floyd in some way. She was born on 6-9-1896. I would like to know where she was born, if she had brothers and sisters and if she is related in some way to Pretty Boy Floyd? Can anyone help? Please e-mail me at [email protected] with any information Thanks Gloria

NAME:Jane Lands
SURNAMES: BARTON
I am looking for anyone out there who might have information regarding the facts behind an article I read that said John Barton and his wife Mary "Polly" Earles Barton, early settlers in Reynolds County, circa 1850, were part of the Trail of Tears. This article was about Rev. John Barton, their grandson and the son of George W. Barton and Catherine Reese Barton. Is there anyone out there with proof or just remembers a story about that? They came here from Clark County, Illinois. Many sources say they were part Cherokee-but how? They were originally from Va/Ky. My husband's gggrandmother, John and Mary Earles Barton's daughter, was Nancy Barton Lands, b.1840 Il. - d. 1912 Mo. She has been confused in several charts and lists as being several different people. One story says she was Nelson Barton's first wife. She was his aunt! His first wife was Mary Ann Johnson who died of a tick bite. He then married Nancy Barnes, called "Nant" and both are buried in Centerville Cemetery. Also, she has been confused as being Jake Clements' wife, he was married to a Nancy but not Nancy Barton Lands. Jake and Nancy Clements are buried in the Barton cemetery. My Nancy had a son William Lands, born in either Il. or Indiana in 1861 or 1862. Nancy eventually md. Edward Lewey, a Canadian Frenchman who served in the Civil War. They lived in Centerville before moving with her grandson Rev. Edw. Mitchell Lands' family to western Missouri. Nancy's sister Sarah, or Sally, md. John C. Blankenship. Sarah had a bible with some family history, births, marriages, etc. in it that was copied from and I eventually got several pages copied. Does anyone out there have the original bible that I could see? Are there any people out there who can help me with this line, or anybody who knows or is familiar with someone who knows about this family's history? If so, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you so much. Jane Lands, Florissant, Mo.
