- HOPSON

- Need information on MARGARET ELLEN HOPSON b. 1839, Ohio; m. Isaac
Stewart Vanlandingham, 8 Apr 1859, Shelby Co., Mo. I need to know who
her parents were. According to the 1850 census, Nancy Hopson of Ralls
Co. had a g/d Margaret of about the right age, and in the 1840 census
Joseph Hopson is listed in Ralls Co. and has a daughter of about the
right age to be Margaret. Another possibility is that Margaret was the
d/o Hiram Hopson who m. Elizaeth Tutor, 18 Jan 1833, Marion Co. I would
appreciate any information on Margaret Ellen Hopson, and would like to
correspond with others interested in the Hopson family.
- SHULSE

Shulse on Saturday, October 11, 1997
- I am researching Shulse, (and various spellings) genealogy. My ggg
grandfather Peter Shulse came to Ralls Co. Mo. in 1840 from
Nicholas-Montgomery Co. Ky. His father, Henry and Peter's brother Henry
and sister Elizabeth settled in Adams Co., Ill. Peter's brother Marcus
settled in Ralls Co. also. A brother Jonas did not stay long and went
back to Ky. Indications are that they were in N. C. before going to Ky.
Any help would be appreciated.

- Wish to contact anyone with knowledge of the Enochs family of Monroe
Co. Thomas Enochs and wife Nancy Bryan were married in Rowan County N.C.
in 1786 and came to Jefferson Co. Ky about 1800. Had a large family in
what is now Oldham County. After Thomas Enochs died his widow Nancy
Bryan remarrried and migrated with children and other family members to
Monroe Co., Mo. Where she died and is buried. Wish to get in touch with
family members who would have information about this family. Nancy Bryan
Enochs was related to Rebecca Bryan, Daniel Boone's wife. Nancy Bryan
Enochs was the daughter of Samuel Enochs and Margaret McMahan from Rowan
Co. N.C. Samuel was the Tory Col. who was a brother to the founder of
Bryans Station in Ky. His brother Wm. was a presbyterian minister and
these two men were the only ones who stayed loyal to the king during the
Revolution. The other brothers came to Ky. Nancy Bryan Enochs was my
gr.gr.grandmother. Her daughter Mary (Polly) who married Daniel Davidson
came to Carlisle, Indiana and settled about 1817. I am trying to find
where Mary Enochs and Daniel Davidson were married and who Daniel's
parents were. The Enochs family is well documented in N.C. in court
records and land transfers in what is now Davies County. Thank you for
any help you can give me. Will be happy to exchange information. 4513

- My Gr-Gr-Grandparents, Samuel Peyton and Elizabeth Hanes/Haynes were
married 11 Aug 1836 in Ralls Co, MO. By the 1840 census they were living
in Carroll Co, MO, near Carrollton, my hometown. I have a copy of their
marriage certificate, but would like to know if there may be an
application for the marriage which would give more information. Thank
you.

married Patsey Gilbert, daughter of Samuel Gilbert; their son,
Christopher Weedon Tompkins, who married Polly Thomas Ashburn, daughter
of George T. Ashburn; and their daughter Polly Ashburn Tompkins, who
married (2) Robert Roberts Reed. Their children were Vincent and Nell,
my grandmother. William O. Tompkins and Patsey Gilbert were early MO
pioneers, arriving early 1800's, to Pike and Ralls County. Polly Ashburn
Tompkins married (1) to James B.Culbertson, in Ralls Co, and they had
Mayme, William and James. Anyone interested in these families, please
