#250 Mary Charlotte Agee

Mary Charlotte, dau. of David Michael Agee and the late Nancy Charlotte (Mathis) Agee, born Apr. 15th 1901, died at W.F. Marlows on Spring Creek, Nov. 2d 1902, aged 1 yr, 6 ms. & 17 ds, died at 4 o'clock , Sun., morn and buried at the Smith Cemetery, Nov. 3 d 1902 at 12 noon. Service by writer using hymns on page 73 & 101. AND On Sunday Dec. 7th 1902 at 11 a.m. at the Mathis School House a Funeral sermon was delivered upon the death of Nancy Jane, wife of D.M. Agee and her two children, Mary Charlotte and Wi lliam Even. Nancy Jane (Mathis) Agee was born Jan'y 1st 1880 and died in Wagoner, Indian Territory, Oct. 14th 1902, aged 22 ys, 9 ms. & 13 ds. William Even, their son, was born near Craddock, MO, and died in Wagoner, I.T., July 17th 1902, aged 2 ys, 11 m s. & 17 ds. Sermon from Ps. 34X19. " Many are the afflictions of righteous, but God delivereth him out of them all". J.J. Watts

Margaret Kitchen was born in Pulaski Co., Kentucky, Sept. 13th 1817. Was of a family of 8 children, all now passed away.

2d George P. Kitchen, born ______, married ______ Adams.
3d Elias Davidson Kitchen, born _____, died Jan'y 30th 1862.
4th Frances Kitchen, born _____, married Lewis Wright.
5th Susan Kitchen, born Aug. 8th 1815, died Mar. 19th 1899. Married Wm. Bradley, Sen., had 8 children.

7th Jane Kitchen, born ___. Thrown from a horse when riding behind Aunt Peggy and killed.
8th Elizabeth Kitchen, born ______, married Samuel Bradley.

Came to Missouri in 1831, joined the Baptist Church on Gourd Creek and was baptized by Eld. Dye. Lived with her brother, Elias, while he lived, then lived by herself, raised two children, Mary Jane Deweese and John Saltsman, and died near Yancy, in Phelps Co., MO, May 11th 1903 at 5 a.m., aged 85 ys, 7 ms, & 28 ds. I attended her burial at the Newport or N.J. Brookshire grave yard May 12th 1903 at 4 p.m. Ex. & burial service after which all that remained of Aunt Peggy was laid at rest. J.J. Watts


#252 Ruben Thornton Clark

Ruben Thornton Clark, was born in Hambersham Co., Georgia, Sept. 22d 1825, married Mary Caroline Giddens, Dec. 14th 1847 and died at Newtown, Pulaski Co., MO, May 19th 1903 at 2 a.m., aged 77 ys, ___ ms & 27 ds. Bro. Clark was of a family of 13 children, a ll dead but one, Mrs. Mararet, wife of Willis Giddens, surviving. Bro. & sis Clark had a family of 13 children, 10 of whom survive. Grand children 60, 48 living and 12 dead. Great grand children, 16 with 13 living. In the Spring of 1860 Bro. Clark obtai ned a Hope in Christ and joined the Baptist Church in what is now Logan Co., Ark. and died as he had lived in full hopes of immortality. 7 of his children were with him when he died, and 3 Amanda, Euell, and Thomas were out in the Ind. Territory, buried Ma y 20th at 4 p.m. 1903. Burial service by J.J. Watts. A funeral sermon was preached at Hopewell Ch. Aug. 30th 1903 at 11 a.m., Sun., from Rev. 21X25, hymns No's on page 146 & 99.


#253 Margaret Knapp

Mrs. Margaret, widow of John F. Knapp, died June 10th 1903, at 6 p.m., aged 69 ys, 7 ms, & 8 days. Mother of 8 children, 6 living. Grand children 13 and 1 dead, 14 in all. Great grand children 2. Buried at the Hamilton Cemetery on Thur., June 11th 1903 at 4 p.m. Funeral service by the writer. J.J. Watts

Bessie Irene, dau. of James H. & Mary E. Mathis, born Apr. 22, 1903, died near Mathis S.H. June 12th 1903 at 8 p.m. aged 1 month and 20 days. Buried at the Smith Cemetery on Sun., June 14th 1903 at noon. Sermon from Matt. 18X10. Hymns 159 "Thy life I rea d, my gracious Lord. J.J. Watts

John Edward, son of Frank & Jennie Cowan, born Nov. 24th 1902, died June 15th 1903 at 2 p.m., aged 6 months & 21 days, buried at the Cowan Family Cemetery on Tues., June 16th 1903 at 5 p.m.. Service by Rev. Jenkins & Watts.


#256 Nathan Delbert Lewis

Nathan Delbert, son of Nathan H. & Annie L. Lewis, died June 14th 1903, at 6 p.m., aged 2 ys, 1 mo., & 3 ds. Of a family of 10 children, 9 surviving, with father & mother. Fri. June 19th 1903, at 12 noon funeral discourse at Relfe Cemetery from Matt. 18X1 0 by J.J. Watts.


#257 Harrison Mack Wagoner

Harrison Mack Wagoner died at Moab, in Pulaski Co., MO, April 12th 1903 at 11 p.m., aged 29 ys, 10 ms, & 5 ds. Mack was born on Mill Creek in Phelps Co., MO, May 7th 1873 and was a son of Louis & Sarah Wagoner and of a family of 16 children.

By 3d wife, Amanda Jane, Harrison Mack & Thomas J. July 5th 1903 at the Pleasant Hill Church a funeral discourse was preached by J.J. Watts at 11 a.m. from Rev. 21X25. Hymns page 147 Watts collection.


#258 Michael Woods

Michael Woods died on Woodland Valley, near Moab P.O. in Pulaski Co., MO, March 25th 1903 at 11-30 p.m., aged 45 ys & 25 ds. A funeral at Pleasant Hill Church July 5th 1903 at 3 p.m.. Mr. Woods was born in Washington Co., MO, Feb. 28th 1858 and was a son of Mr. Michael M. & Susannah Woods and was of a family of 11 children as follows: By first wife.

Elmer Leo, son of William & Mary Fritts born near Dixon, Pulaski Co., MO, Feb. 28th 1903, died at same place Aug. 14th 1903, 7 p.m., aged 5 ms & 16 days. Buried at Pisgah Cemetery Aug. 15th 1903 at 5 p.m. Service by J.J. Watts.


#260 Drucilla Edgar

Drucilla Edgar, widow of Mr. Edmond D. Sturgon and widow of John D. Edgar, died near Shirrell in Texas Co., MO, Jan'y 5th 1903, aged 74 ys, 9 ms, & 8 ds.

Sister Edgar was born in Hart Co., Ky, March 27th 1828, and was a daughter of Mr. Zadock and Elizabeth Denison & of a family of 8 children: 1st Delilah, 2) Thomas, 3) Alexander, 4) Richard died young, 5) a son died in infancy, 6) Benjamin, 7) Mary, wife of Thomas Reed, 8) Drucillah. All are now dead and gone. She first married Edmond Delly Sturgeon (sic) Oct. 13th 1850. He died Aug. 10th 1851, aged 23 ys, 4 ms, & 8 ds. She married 2d Mr. John Danely Edgar, June 19th 1853, who died Sept. 25th 1878, aged 51 ys, 5 ms, & 23 ds. Mother of 8 children. One by 1st husband & 7 by 2d husband, 4 surviving. Grand children 28, 25 living, Great G. children 1 living. 24 ys. ago she confessed Christ and followed Him in baptism. Funeral sermon by me at Beulah Ch. #261 Lucy Jane Carden

Lucy Jane Carden, daughter of Alfred and Nancy Carden, was born Sept. 9th 1883 near Pisgah Church in Pulaski Co., and died there Oct. 17th 1903, aged 30 ys, 1 mo. & 8 ds. She was of a family of 8 children, ___ surviving. Burial service at the Pisgah Churc h, Sunday at 4 p.m. Oct. 18th 1903. Burial at Pisgah Cemetery at 5 p.m. same date.


#262 Sarah Elizabeth Shockley

Sister Sarah Elizabeth Shockley, beloved wife of Wm. Wesley Shockley, was born at the S.H. Stuart farm in Pulaski Co., MO, Oct. 10th 1866, and died Oct. 20th 1903 at 15 min past midnight (morning) near Decker P.O., age 37 ys, and 10 ds. Sister Shockley was a dau. of the late Jasper and Nancy Jane York (nee Logan) ___ had 2 children Rufus & Sarah E. And of the Atterberry _____ there were 8 child. making 10 child in all. 6 are living. Burial service at the Dry Creek Cemetery Oct. 20th 1903 at 5 p.m. Tues. Oct 15th 1882 she was united in marriage with Wm. W. Shockley, and the mother of 10 children, all living.


#263 Sarah Frances Dye

Sarah Frances, bseloved wife of Bro. C.W. Dye, was born in Hamilton Co., Ill., March 15th 1861, married to Bro. C.W. Dye, Jan'y 7th 1883 and died at Newtown, Dec. 23d 1903 at 2 a.m., aged 42 ys., 9 ms., & 8 days. Sister Dye was the youngest child of Bro. S ilas M. and Charlotte Page, & of a family of 10 children, 4 of whom survive: Mrs. Elizabeth Sneed, Lydia Jane McDonald, Solomon N. & Benj. F. Page, and mother of 8 children all living. She was buried at Newtown on Thur., Dec. 24th 1903, after service by t he writer assisted by Eld. Jennings.


#264 James Thomas Chaney

Died at his home near Blooming Rose, in Phelps Co., MO, Feb. 1st 1904 at 12-30 p.m., Bro. James Thomas Chaney, aged 42 ys, 1 mo, & 5 ds. Bro. Chaney was born in Pulaski Co., KY, Dec. 26th 1861 and was a son of Zebedee & Lucy Ann Chaney. His father died wh en he was 8 ys. old & his mother died when he was 9 ys old. Bro Chaney was of a family of 7 children, 3 of whom survive him, 2 sisters & 1 brother, all in KY. Bro. Chaney came to MO Sept. 1879 and Jan'y 8th 1885 he was united in marriage with Sarah Jane, dau. of Bro. Wm. David Arthur (Dick) of Corn Creek, and unto them were born 9 children, 6 of whom survive him with their mother. 16 ys ago Bro. Chaney embraced the Christian religion and joined the Bap. Ch. on Corn Creek and later united with the Bap. Ch. at Pleasant Hope. That church disbanded & since he held his letter. His death was instantaneous of heart failure or appoplexy. Service at house Wed. morn., Feb. 3d 1904 and at the W.D. Arthur Cemetery on Corn Creek at 4 p.m. same date.


#265 Mary Blanch Welch

Mary Blanch, daughter of James A. and Sarah Ann Welch, was born on the Freeman farm on Big Piney river August 24th 1900 and died same place Feb. 24th 1904, 11 a.m., aged 3 ys & 6 ms. Was of a family of 9 children, 7 of whom survive. Was buried at Newtown (Big Piney P.O.) Pulaski Co., MO, on Thur. Feb. 25th 1904 at 3 O'clock p.m. Service of singing, remarks, and prayer by J.J. Watts.


#266 John Perry Shackelford

John Perry, son of Thomas B. & the late Sarah Ann Shackelford, died in Rolla, Phelps Co., MO, Tues. eve., at half past 8 o'clock April 19th 1904, aged 22 ys, & 12 ds. Was of a family of 8 children, 5 of whom survive him, with their father. His remains wer e taken to Franks by train & out to Pisgah Ch. where I preached a funeral discourse from Rev. 22X25 after which he was buried in the Pisgah Cemetery at 5 p.m., Thur. eve., April 21st 1904. The father, Thomas B., died in Rolla, Feb. 27th 1905 aged 67 ys.


#267 Roanna Elizabeth Ashworth

Roanna Elizabeth (McMahan) widow of Joseph Ashworth, Sen., died near Duke, MO, June 11th 1904 at 5 p.m., aged 36 ys, 11 ms, & 6 ds. Living 3 children and 3 children dead before her. Was of a family of 13 children, 9 of that No. still survive. A funeral d iscourse was delivered at the Watts Lawn Cemetery, June 12th 1904 at 3 p.m., from Rev. 21X25 & hymns 34 "Further on" & 75 "I will sing you a song" & 101 "My Heavenly home is bright & fair" were used, and at 4 o'clock the interment was completed.


#268 Mary Jane Peterson

Mary Jane, wife of Rev. W.C. Peterson, died in Waynesville Oct. 30th 1903, aged 63 ys, 7 ms, & 2 ds. Funeral sermon at Stoutland Oct. 30th 1904 by Watts from Psalms 35X14. Three sons & 1 sister, husband present.

Mabel Esther, dau of John Fremont and Nancy L. Rockwell, died near Rolling Heath Church, Nov. 17th 1904 at 2 p.m., aged 2 ys, 11 ms, & 9 ds. Funeral at the residence, Nov. 19th 1904 at 2 p.m. Sermon from Matt. 18X10. Hymns Page 2 & 89. Burial at the Log an & Rockwell Cemetery at 4 p.m. Father & Mother & son, survives.


#270 Sarah Emeline Cale

Sis. Sarah Emeline, wife of Wm. Henry Cale and dau. of Wm. Isaac Thomas & Martha Lucinda Thomas, died in St. Louis, MO, Sunday morn. at 6 o'clock, Nov. 20th 1904, aged 30 ys, 9 ms, & 20 ds. Brought home Nov. 22d 1904 and buried in the James Bradford on Wed ., Nov. 23d 1904 at 3 p.m. Funeral service by Eld. J.J. Watts. She was born near Rolla, MO, Jan'y 30th 1874 and was of a family of 12 children, 8 of whom survive: Leroy, Moses, Alice & Gracie are present and Minnie at the homestead. Lavenie lives in Chr istian Co.; Lewis lives in Phillips I.T.; and Charley at Kendall, Ark. Sister Cale was married in St. Louis, Apr. 15th 1897, mother of 3 children, all living and in St. Louis.

#271 Caleb Baker

Caleb, (called Capie N.) son of Charles and the late Dora Baker, was born in Hobson, Dent Co., MO, July 15th 1903 and after the death of its mother Sept. 22d 1903 he has lived with his Aunt Nannie Seisser until his death Nov. 25th 1904 near Laquey, MO, aged 1 yr, 4 ms, & 10 ds. Funeral discourse at Idumea Ch. on Sat., Nov. 26th. Text from Matt. 18X10 after which he was buried in the Idumea Cemetery at 3 p.m. Only child.


#272 Mary Catherine Ruthie Black

Mary Catherine Ruthie, dau. of Wm. T. & Anna Lee Black born near Craddock Oct. 5th 1903, died same place Dec. 2d 1904 at 7 o'clock p.m., aged 1 yr, 1 mo, & 27 ds. Of a family of 8 child., only 2 Julia & Beulah surviving, with father & mother and grandmothe r Black, still living. Was buried at the W.T. Black Cemetery after service at the house at 2 p.m. & sermon at the grave at 3 p.m. Dec. 3d 1904. Text Matt. 18 X10th verse. Hymns No. 2 - 8.


#273 Sarah Ann Black

Sis. Sarah Ann, widow of Judge & Bro. Wm. Black born in Green Co., Tenn., Aug. 12th 1822, died near Craddock, Dec. 6th 1904 at 11-15 p.m., aged 82 ys, 3 ms, & 24 ds. She was a dau. of Zachariah & Sarah Jane Hurley and of a family of 10 children (supposed d ead). She married to Bro. Black in Green Co., Tenn., Aug. 18th 1841 & came to Missouri in 1843 & with her husband settled on the farm near Craddock & where Bro. Black died Mar. 20th 1897 at the age of 78 ys, 3 ms, & 3 ds. Their children No. 6: Martha Car oline Kissock, James Carroll Black, Mary Ann Denison, Sarah Jane born Sept. 23d 1848 and died Nov. 28th 1848 aged 2 ms & 5 ds. Louvina Elizabeth Roberts & Bro. Wm. T. Black. Grand children No. 33 with 8 of that No. dead. Great grand children No. 26, with 23 living. Sister Black obtained a Hope in Christ in 1879 and was baptized by Bro. Callahan & joined Enon Church. Faithful till death. Funeral sermon from Psalms 35X14 at the W.T. Black Cemetery Dec. 8th at 11 a.m. by Watts.

Ethel, dau. of Jason W. & Dora Bohley, born June 18th 1904, died Dec. 24th 1904, aged 6 ms & 6 ds. Funeral sermon at the home Dec. 25th 1904 at 2 p.m. Service at cemetery at 3 p.m. Sermon from Matt. 18X10. Songs on page 2 & 8. by J.J. Watts


#275 James C. Wood

James C. Wood died on Baldridge, Feb. 16th 1905 at 3 p.m., aged 49 ys, 2 ms, & 19 ds. Burial at the Wood Cemetery on Sat., Feb. 18th 1905, burial completed at 2 p.m. He left companion 7 children, one brother, Rufus M. Wood and 2 sisters, Mrs. Philander Ta te, and Mrs. Wiley McLaughlin. Funeral service by me at the cemetery at 1 p.m., Sat. Feb. 18th.


#276 Vitula McCown

Vitula McCown died near Edenville May 9th 1905, at 4-30 p.m., aged 47 ys, 10 ms, & 5 days, daughter of Perry & Ellender A. Snell, was born in Warren Co., KY, July 4th 1856, was of a family of 9 children, 3 surviving, namely: Wm. P. Snell, Nancy Ann Beck, & Sarah Cohorn all of KY. Mar. 3d 1874 was married to Geo. Sidney McCown and unto them were born 8 children, 7 still living and 7 grand child., 5 still living. Funeral sermon at the Watts Lawn Cemetery on Thurs. May 11th 1905 at 12-30 past noon from Isaiah 48X10. All the children present.

Infant son of Silas & Nannie McCown, dead born June 27th 1905. First child born unto them. Burial at Watts Lawn June 28th 1905 at 4 p.m. Burial service at the grave.


#278 Berthena Jane Bray

Berthena Jane Bray, wife of Willis G. Bray, died at Jeff Brays near Big Piney P.O. in Pulaski Co., MO, July 22d 1905 at 2 o'clock a.m., aged 23 ys, 6 ms, & 14days. She was a daughter of Randell L. & Mary Pruett who survives her, and of a family of 10 child ren, 9 surviving. Feb. 5th 1899 she was married to Willis G. Bray and unto them were born 2 children, both living. Member of the Baptist Ch. and died in full hopes of immortality. Funeral sermon at Watts Lawn Cemetery, July 23d 1905 at 3 p.m., Sun., from I sa. 48X10 after which our sister was laid to rest. J.J. Watts


#279 Elizabeth Ann Mathis

Elizabeth Ann, widow of Thomas Mathis, died at her son-in-laws James Green's in St. Louis, MO, July 24th 1905 at 11 o'clock and 40 minutes p.m., aged __8 yrs, 1 mo., & 27 days. Sister Mathis was a daughter of James Newton Blake, and of a family of 14 childr en. Those living are: Charles-Samuel & John Sullivan-Jesse and Margaret= and of the 2d wife Martha Ellen=David Newton, and Allen Wilson Blake. 8 living and 6 are dead. March 17th 1873 she was united in marriage with Thomas Mathis and unto them were born 10 children, 8 still living and 2 are dead. Her remains were brought to the Smith Cemetery in Phelps Co. and buried by the side of her husband July 26th 1905. Funeral service by J.J. Watts at 2 p.m., on Wed., after which she was buried at rest.


#280 Dora Alzonia Melvina Hauptman

Dora Alzonia Melvina Hauptman died 2 1/2 miles from Windsor Stutsman Co., North Dakota, Dec. 9th 1905, aged 27 ys., 8 ms., & 5 ds. Sister Dora was a daughter of the late George Bates and her mother now, sister Nancy M. Schaupp. She was born near Vest P.O., now Clementine P.O., in Phelps Co., MO, April 4th 1878, married to Mr. (Samuel) George Morris Delancy, May 7th 1892, and unto them were born 5 children, 2 sons and 3 daughters: George Gilbert, Monroe Jackson, Bessie Gertrude, Annie May, Lydia Belle. Dec 2 8th 1903, she married to Mr. Henry Hauptman and moved with her family to North Dakota, where she committed suicide by taking strychnine & died in one hour. Her remains were brought to Arlington by train & to Hooker, arriving at her mother's home Sunday nigh t, and on Monday at __ o'clock a.m. I preached her funeral sermon at the Hooker School house from Ps. 34X19 after which she was buried in the Hooker Cemetery, Dec. 18th 1905 at 11 a.m. Relatives surviving, 5 children, husband, mother, 2 half brothers, Char les Bates, Oliver Rench & Stamford Davis.


#281 Robert Franklin Hamilton

Robert Franklin Hamilton, was born near St. Charles, St. Charles Co., MO, March 8th 1834 and died in Rolla, MO, Jan'y 19th 1906 at half past 4 o'clock p.m., aged 71 ys, 10 ms, & 11 ds, buried on Spring Creek at the Hamilton Hill Cemetery on Sunday Jan'y 21s t 1906, at 5 p.m. Service by J.J.Watts.

#282 Hazel Maree Lewis

Hazel Maree, daughter of Thomas and Mary Lewis, born in Rolla, May 15th 1900, died in Rolla, Sept. 22d 1906, at 1 o'clock a.m., aged 4 ms & 7 days, buried at the George Smith Cemetery, where I preached a funeral sermon Sept. 23d 1906 at 1 o'clock p.m. Fath er, mother & 2 little sisters surviving. Text Matt. 18X10.


#283 James Lanning

James, son of James M. and Amanda Gertrude Lanning, died 3 miles north of Beulah in Phelps Co., MO, Oct. 16th 1906 at 15 minutes to 1 o'clock p.m., aged 8 ys and 6 days. He was of a family of 6 children, 5 of whom survive, burial at Beulah Cemetery. Funeral sermon preached at Beulah School House from Matt. 18X10 at 2 p.m. Oct. 17th 1906 by Watts.

Lee, son of John Williams, died at Newburg, Oct. 26th 1906, aged 10 months, buried at the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Oct. 27th. I attended his burial.


#285 John Green Baker

Bro. John Green Baker, born in Sparta, White Co., Tenn. April 28th 1850, died in Texas Co. near Sherrill, March 26th 1905, aged 54 ys., 10 ms., and 28 days. A funeral sermon was preached by me at Beulah Bap. Ch., Nov. 11th 1906 at 11 a.m. from Phil. 1X21. H is wife survives and of a family of 11 children, 7 living. He was a son of John and Mary Baker, mother living. Jan. 1st 1872 Bro. Baker was married to sis. Mary Elizabeth Sturgeon and unto them were born 18 children, 11 of that No. still living. Grandchildr en No. 14, all living. Member of the Bap. Ch. for 17 ys.

John Wesley Baker, son of J.G. & Mary Elizabeth Baker, died near Sherrill in Texas Co., MO, Jan'y 24th 1905, aged 26 ys, 10 ms, & 3 ds. He was of a family of 18 children, 11 surviving. A funeral sermon was delivered by me at Beulah Nov. 11th 1906 at 2 p.m. from the text found in Rev. 21st 25.

Died at her home near Tribune, P.O. in Pulaski Co., MO, Sept. 26th 1906, Sarah G., wife of Andrew Jackson Henson, aged 76 ys., 10 ms., & 25 days. She was born in Jefferson Co., MO, Oct. 31th 1829 and was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Duncan and wa s of a family of 11 children, 6 sons, & 5 daughters, all supposed to have passed away. Oct. 19th 1858 she was united in marriage with A.J. Henson at Oak Hill Methodist Church in Jefferson Co., MO, who survives her. One daughter was born unto them, Mary Ali ce Henson and who died Dec. 16th 1890, aged 26 ys, 4 ms, & 7 days. One grand-son survives, John Andrew Henson, born Sept. _0th 1888. Sister Henson & her twin sister Mary embraced a hope in Christ early in life & joined 1st the M.E. Church & later the Free Baptist Ch. I delivered a memorial discourse at Rolling Heath Ch. house Nov. 25th 1906 at 11 a.m. Text Phil. 1X21.

Infant dau. of Joseph H. Livingston born and died in St. James. Taken up from the Masonic Cemetery in St. James, MO, Sept. 27th 1907, and took it to Elk Prairie in Phelps Co. and reburied it by the side of her mother, Sept. 29th 1907 at the Elk Prairie Ch., after a funeral discourse in the Ch. house at 2 p.m. from Matt. 18X10. The mother died Mar. 17th 1907.

Mr. Nathan H. Henson died at his brother in laws Mr. Joseph Blue's in Newburg, MO, Oct. 4th 1907, Fri.. morn., aged 52 ys, 11 ms, & 21 ds. He was a son of Wm. & Cynthia Henson and was born Oct. 13th 1854 and was of a family of 10 children, 4 surviving, nam ely: Mr. James Henson, Mrs. Safrona Hanly, Mrs. Edith McKinnon, & Mrs. Mary Lowe. Aug. 7th 1872 he was married to Miss Lydia Jane Blue, and unto them were born 11 children, 7 of whom survive, namely: Mrs. Rose Schafer, who resides in Shannon Co., MO; Willi am B.; Mrs. Mary Adams; Franklin A.; Nathan Harrison; Lilly and James Corbit Henson. A funeral discourse was preached by J.J. Watts at the Spring Creek S.H. Nov. 24th 1907, at 11 a.m., from Rev. 21X25. William Lewis Hood died April 3d 1908 at 11-30 a.m., aged 12 ys., 2 ms., & 16 ds. He was a son of James Edward and Sally Ann Hood and of a family of 6 children, 3 of whom survive, namely: Naomi Marilda, Sterlin Raymond, & Merton Landom Hood. Bro. James A. Steward died at Wesley Logan's near Fyan P.O., Pulaski Co., MO., April 18th 1908 at 6 p.m., aged 76 ys., 8 ms., & 1 day. I attended his burial at Friendship Ch. April 20th 1908 at 12 noon. And his funeral sermon was preached at Friendship Ch . Sept. 6th 1908 at 11 a.m. from Isaiah 48X10. His children were all present, but Hardin & John Steward.

Mrs. Margaret Bray died March 28th 1906 7 p.m., aged 66ys, 3 ms, & 7 ds. Mrs. Bray was born in Roane Co., Tenn. Dec. 21st 1839. Her maiden name was Grayson. She married 1st a Mr. Manes, 2nd Mr. Hinchie, 3d Wm. Teasley, and 4th to Mr. Hannon Bray, Apr. 26 th 1892, who survives her. Mother of 3 children, one older than James her son and one younger. James only survives her and 10 grand children & 2 dead, and 7 great grand children.


#305 Charles C. Blake

Bro. Charles C. Blake died at Mint Hill in Osage Co., MO, Sept. 11th 1908, aged 59 ys, & 9 ms. Bro. Blake was born in Putman Co., West Virginia April 11th 1849 and was a son of the late James Newton and Nancy Ann Blake and of a family of 15 children, 3 of the first family & 3 of the last still living. Bro. Blake came to MO with his father & family in 1850 and to Phelps Co., MO, near Craddock, where he died Aug. 5th 1892, aged 73 ys., 11 ms., & 21 ds. and his mother died near Craddock, Feb.22d 1877, aged 56 ys., 11 ms., & 7 ds. Sept. 2d 1877 Bro. Blake was united in marriage with Sister Susan Draby, and unto them were born 10 children, 9 surviving, with their mother and 7 grand children & Nov. 31st 1877, Bro. Blake was baptisted by Eld. Calahan into Enon Bap. Ch. and ever remained faithful unto death.

Also Sister Cora May Blake, dau. of Charles C. and Sister Susan Blake, was born June 3d 1888, and was drown in Piney river at the Rolla foard May 3d 1908, aged 19 ys., & 11 ms., in Feb. 1907 Sister Cora obtained a Hope in Christ but never joined any church. A funeral sermon was preached at the Mooney Hollow Church in Texas Co., MO, Oct. 25th 1908 at 11 a.m. from Rev. 21X25.


#306 Crawford Ousley

Crawford Ousley was born in Campbell Co., Tennessee, Nov. 2d 1836, and died at Crocker, MO, Dec. 5th 1908 at 2-15 a.m., aged 72 ys., 1 mo., & 3 ds. Was three times married and had 1 son by first wife, 10 by 2d wife and 8 by 3d wife, 19 children in all, 13 surviving. 9 were present at his burial, 74 grand children, 65 now living and 4 great grand children. Bro. Ousley obtained a hope in Christ in Dec. 1907 and was baptisted in May 1908 and joined the Crocker Bap. Ch. A dear good bro. is gone, was buried at the C. Ousley Cemetery by the Oddfellows after service conducted by Watts & Petty Dec. 6th 1908 at 2 p.m.

Robert S. Stevenson, born in St. Louis, MO, Mar. 13th 1835, died on Mill (sic) Dec. 20th 1908 at 4-15 a.m., aged 73 ys., 9 ms., & 7 ds. Of a family of 7 children, one bro. surviving, Chas. #309 Leona Olive Ousley

Mrs. Leona Olive, wife of Joseph S. Ousley, died at her home on Piney Feb. the 5th 1909, at 12.45 p.m., aged 40 ys., 4 ms., & 6 ds. Mrs. Ousley was born in Overton Co., Tenn., Sept. 29th 1868 and was dau. of the late Wm. R. and Nancy Jane (Johnson) Yelton and of a family of 9 children, 7 of whom survive death. I first visited this family on the 3d day of March 1894 and Mrs. Malinda beloved wife of Mr. Sherrill Dunham was taken at the age of 35 ys, 1 mo., & 15 ds. Her husband Mr. Sherrill Dunham only surviv ed his wife from Mar. the 3d to May the 12th of the same year when he passed away, at the age of 37 ys., 5 ms., & 6 ds. The next to go was the beloved mother, Mrs. Nancy Jane Yelton, who died Aug. the 1st 1907, aged 72 ys., 8 ms., & 26 ds. Then the father Mr. William R. Yelton was called to go Dec. the 4th 1908 at the age of 76 ys. 3 ms., & 15 ds. And now again death has taken a beloved sister from this once happy family. On the 2d day of Jan'y 1888 she was united in marriage with Mr. Joseph S. Ousley and unto them were born 9 children, all living. In her fathers family the 1st Mrs. Louisa, now Mrs. Parker, wife of R.B.Parker of Birch Tree, 2d Wm. B. Yelton of Mill Creek, 3d Mrs. Viola Ousley of Birch Tree, 4th John R. Yelton of Cole Camp, 5th Erastus J.. Y elton of Rolla, 6th Mr. Burr L. Yelton of Mill Creek, and 7 Robert Stonewall of Mill Creek.

Eva Zylpha Delilah Keeney, dau. of Abner Martin & Frances E. Of a family of 7 children, 6 surviving, with fathe r & mother. Charles Decker did at Decker, in Pulaski Co., MO., Dec. 2d 1909 at 9-30 a.m., aged 83 ys., 6 ms., & 22 ds. Bro. Decker was born in Tompkins Co., N.Y., May the 10th 1826 and was of a family of 6 children, 3 surviving=Two sisters and one brother. Father of 5 children, 2 living. Mr. Charles R. Decker of Decker, MO, & Robert Earl Decker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of the Episcopal Ch. of Fairbo, Minnesota, and has lived at Cedar Rapids for the last 20 years. Was buried at the Dry Creek Cemetery, D ec. 3d 1909 at 3 p.m. Prayer at the house and sermon at the cemetery.

Marlow and was born in Phelps Co., Nov. 24th 1871 and was of a family of 10 children, 8 living with father and mother. Nov. 26th 1891, he was united in marriage with sister Martha E. Mathis, a dau. of Enoch Solomon and Charlotte Mathis, and has a family of 8 children, 6 of whom with their mother survive him. Funeral sermon at Big Piney Cemetery Apr. 15th 1910 at 2 p.m.

Oliver Amos Ormsbee died at his home near Plato, Texas Co., MO, Mar. 24th 1910, aged 46 ys., 8 ms., & 19 ds. Bro. Ormsbee was a son of the late Dorus and Mary E. Ormsbee. His father died at or near St. Louis, MO, April 5th 1899, aged 56 ys., 10 ms., & 2 ds. and his mother died at Relfe, MO, July 8th 1901, aged 65 ys., 11 ms., & 25 ds. And Bro. Ormsbee was of a family of 3 children, he being the oldest, and Eld. George C. Ormsbee who resides at Gray Summit, MO, pastor of Gray Summit & Pacific churches, and one sister Mrs. Edma L. Meeker who resides in St. Louis, MO. On the 24th day of February 1887 Bro. Ormsbee was united in marriage with Sister Cora Belle Moffatt and unto them were born 10 children, 9 of whom with their mother survive. Their 5th child, Jesse Ernest died July 29th 1898, aged 1 yr, 4 ms., & 14 ds. Bro. Ormsbee was born in St. Lawrence Co., New York and obtained a hope in Christ about 1882 and was baptized by Eld. J.C. Hicks and joined the Mt. Pisgah Bap. Ch. He afterward joined the Bap. Ch. at Plato and where he remained til his death. Bro. S.M. Manes preached his funeral discourse at Plato in the Bap. Ch. House May 1st 1910 & I helped him in Ex.

Willie was of a family of 11 children, 9 girls & 2 boys. 8 sisters surviving. The other son died in KY (Robert ______), Feb. 11th 1879 at the age of one month and a sister Maudie Elizabeth died at Edgar Springs, Oct. 4th 1884, aged 2 ys. 7 ms., & 28 ds. A funeral sermon at the Trout Cemetery Sept. 25th 1910 at 11 a.m. from Ps. 34X19.

He left one brother, John Dean, and 1 sister Mrs. Alexander Delashmit of Newburg. He was buried at the cemetery near his home, Oct. 13th 1910 at 4 p.m.

Mary Matthews, (called Aunt Pop or Polly), widow of James M. Matthews, died near the James A. Bradford cemetery, at Edward C. Bailey's, Nov. 1st 1910 at 10 o'clock a.m., aged 75 ys., 9 ms., & 2 ds. Sister Matthews was a daughter of the late Pleasant and Nancy (Deer) Wayman, and was born at Spring Creek, MO, Jan'y 29th 1835 and was of a family of 8 children, with two surviving. Mrs. Elizabeth Pillman and Mr. David Wayman of St. Louis surviving. Her father Mr. Pleasant Wayman, was born in Virginia, Nov. 22d 1802 and died at Spring Creek, Dec. 15th 1862, aged 60 ys., & 23 ds. Her mother Nancy Wayman was born in VA Nov. 13th 1804 and died at Spring Creek, Phelps Co., MO, Nov. 2d 1862, aged 57 ys., 11 ms., & 19 ds. Lucinda Wayman a sister to Mrs. Pillman was born July 25th 1828 and died Nov. 27th 1843, aged 15 ys., 4 ms., & 2 ds. Mrs. Elizabeth Pillman was born April 7th 1842. Mr. David Wayman was born Sept. 8th 1847. Bro. & Sister Matthews were married Aug. 14th 1856. And unto them were born 13 children, with only three surviving, namely: Laura Ellen Steward, Malissa Lucinda Bailey, and Ida Jane Vaughan, with 14 grand children, and 3 of them are dead.

Horace Frederick Capps, son of Charles Augustus and Alpha Capps, died at Beulah, Dec. 10th 1910, at 11-30 a.m., aged 7 ms., & 29 ds, was buried at the Beulah Cemetery, Sun., Dec. 11th 1910 at 2 p.m. Attended J.J. Watts.


#333 Lora Cornelius McCown
Lora Cornelius McCown, son of Perry E. McCown, died (near Watts Lawn Cemetery) Jan'y 3d 1911 at 9 p.m., aged 5 months & 15 days. Buried at Watts Lawn Cemetery Jan'y 5th 1911 at 2 p.m. after service by J.J. Watts.


#334 Patsy Sullivan
Patsy Sullivan (or Martha Ray) died near Flat Jan'y 17th 1911 at 3 a.m., aged 90 ys., 7 ms., & 2 days. Buried at the Geo. Smith Cemetery Jan'y 18th 1911 at 4 p.m. 3 children were present: Susie, Henry and Mattie.


#335 Laura Jane Withrow
Laura Jane Withrow died April 13th 1908, aged 40 ys., 5 ms., & 14 ds. She was born in Perceville, Ind., Oct. 29th 1867. Taken up from the Crow Camp Ground by me, March 13th 1911 and re-buried in the Shafer Cemetery, Mar. 14th 1911 at 4 o'clock p.m. Her sister Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brinkley & husband, Wm. Brinkley were present.


#336 George Washington Maze
George Washington Maze died by a falling tree, April 6th 1911. Tree fell at 5 p.m. & he died at 11 p.m., April 6th 1911, aged 46 ys., 3 ms., & 10 ds. A son of the late Sheridan Maze, of a family of 11 children, only 2 surviving: James R. Maze and Mrs. Nancy Ferrell. Buried on Friday, Apr. 7th 1911 at 3 p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery after funeral service by J.J. Watts & The Modern Brotherhood of David.


#337 Stacy Melvina Craddock
Sister Stacy Melvina Craddock, widow of Wm. H. Craddock, died near Craddock, MO, May 13th 1911 at 2 p.m., aged 47 ys., 3 ms., & 28 ds. Sister Craddock was a dau. of the late Wm. J. (called Buck) and Sis. Ruthie Dunham. They had 4 children, 3 died young and now they are all dead. Dec. 23d 1879 sister Stacy was united in marriage with the late Wm. H. Craddock and unto them were born 4 children, two are dead, 2 living: They are Cynthia Denison and Wiley Craddock. 3 grand children, 2 living. May 14th 1911 at 12 noon at the Beulah Ch. I preached her funeral from Psalms 35X14.


#338 Myrtle Jones
Myrtle Jones, a dau. of John Allen Jones, died at her fathers near Flat Post Office in Phelps Co., MO, Aug. 28th 1911 at 6-30 p.m., aged 19 ys., 9 ms., & 25 ds, leaving a father, 3 brothers and 4 sisters: Mark, Finis, Henry, Mrs. Dollie Webster, Mrs. Cora Roberts, Mrs. Nellie Ragan, & Mrs. Kate Hensley of Okla. The rest live near the parental home. A funeral sermon was preached by me, on Sunday Oct. the 8th 1911, with the text the transfiguration of Christ. Preached on Sunday of the Phelps County Baptist Association at Pleasant Grove Church. A very large crowd were present.


#339 Eunice Leota Ousley
Eunice Leota Ousley, dau. of Joseph S. and Missouri Ousley, died Nov. 7th 1911 at 6 a.m., aged 2 ms., & 3 ds. Buried at the C. Ousley Cemetery Nov. 8th at 12 noon. Oldest child by 2d wife. Sermon from Matt. 18X10.


#340 Minnie Jackson
Mrs. Minnie Jackson, wife of Emery Jackson and dau. of Thomas and Eliza Jones, died on Dry Creek near Tribune, December the 30th 1911 at 10 min. to 9 a.m., aged 26 ys., 6 ms., & 16 ds. Leaving husband and 4 little children. Buried at the James Bradford Cemetery after a sermon by J.J. Watts from Phil. 1X23 on Mon. Jan'y 1st 1912 at 2 p.m. Was of a family of 5 children, 3 surviving.


#341 Julia Ann Kelley
Julia Ann Kelley, wife of Marion W. Kelley, died near Big Piney, MO, Feb. 12 1912 at 10 a.m., aged 39 ys., 1 mo., and 27 ds. She was a dau. of Bro. Henry M. & Sis. Elizabeth M. Sneed (nee Page). She was of a family of 6 child, 5 are now living. Mother of 8 children, all living. A funeral sermon was preached at the Hopewell Ch., Feb. 13th, at 2 p.m., 1912 from Psalms 35X14.


#342 Matilda Harrowood
Mrs. Matilda Harrowood died at her sons, Thomas Hines home, Feb. the 18th 1912 at about 9-30 p.m., aged 76 ys., and 11 days. Sister Harrowood was born near Albion, in Edwards Co., Ill., Feb. 7th 1836 and was a dau. of Timothy and Margie Brown. Married 3 times and mother of 6 children, 4 surviving, 21 surviving grand children & more than 20 great grand children, 3 brothers and 1 sister surviving. She was buried at the Smith Cemetery Feb. 20th 1912 in a terrible snow storm. Text Phil. 1X23.


#343 Ina Vesta McDonald
Ina Vesta McDonald, dau. of Wm. L. & Lulie Viola McDonald, died near Big Piney, MO, March 15th 1912 at 2-30 p.m., aged 5 ys., 10 ms., & 21 ds., leaving father, mother and 2 children. Surviving Wm. Lester and Ernest Selester. Buried at Big Piney, Mar. 16th 1912 at 4 p.m. Sermon from Matt. 18X10.


#344 Marquis Steel
Mr. Marquis Steel died at his son's, Martin Steel, near the Smith Cemetery, April 4th 1912 at 9-30 a.m., aged 78 ys., 1 mo., & 15 ds. his sons Martin & John Steel and his daughter Mrs. Will Johnson were present. Funeral sermon at the Smith Cemetery Apr. 6th 1912, by J. J. Watts.


#345 Sarah Whitson
Sister Sarah Whitson died at her home near Andrew Whitsons near Beulah, MO, April the 16th 1912, at 3-15 p.m., aged 71 ys., 5 ms., & 15 ds. Sister Whitson was born in Pulaski Co., KY, Nov. 1st 1840. Was a daughter of Elijah & Rebecca Ping & has 1 brother and 1 sister living in Pulaski Co., KY & March the 16th 1865 she was united in marriage with Thomas Whitson, and she had 10 children, 9 surviving: Mrs. John A. Brookshire, Andrew Whitson, Nancy E. Whitson, Mrs. Lee Heavins, Geo. W. Whitson, Mrs. Travis G. Brookshire, Mrs. Finis Marlow, Mrs. Charles Angel, & Wm. Whitson & 32 grand children with 29 living. In Oct. 1881 the family arrived in MO & settled at Edgar Springs. Funeral sermon at Edgar's Bap. Ch., Apr. 17th 1912 at 3 p.m.


#346 James Gilbright Marlow
James Gilbright Marlow died at the Sister Moore place near Elm Spring School House, April the 29th 1912 at 2-15 p.m., aged 74 ys., 9 ms., & 21 ds. He was born in Wilks Co., N.C., July 8th 1837, married in Phelps Co., MO, to Miss Melvina Arleva Laney, Nov. 8th 1863 and unto them were born 10 children, 8 of whom still survive and 46 grand children living & 5 dead. Great grand children 5 living and 1 is dead. Funeral sermon at the Marlow Cemetery, Apr. 30th 1912, at 3 p.m.
