I own a farm in North Phelps county originally owned by Isaac Love Jr. and
Nancy Grisham Love. There is a log cabin on adjacent property that was also
owned by the Loves. I am trying to determine if the Loves built this cabin
and lived in it when they moved to Missouri from Tennessee. Would anyone
have any information as to who built this cabin or photographs? The Ott
family bought it in 1936 and later it passed to Elmer and Sadie Brown. Any
information regarding the Loves would be appreciated.

LOVE-GRISHAM  28 Jan 2006

My gg grandparents, Isaac Love Jr. and Nancy Grisham Love lived in Phelps County for many years. He was born in TN 23 Sep 1817 and died 26 Aug 1896. Nancy was born in McMinn County, TN about 1815 and died 29 Apr 1902. They had 13 children, but I have information on only 7 of them. Margaret b abt 1842 m Wm. C. Kelly, Matilda b 1845, d aft 1910 m Noah Franklin Otis, Phoebe b 1847 m James P. Jordon 18 Mar 1867, Pleasant Levader b 28 Jun 1852, d 21 Jul 1927 m Amanda Barnwell, Isaac Jasper b 14 Dec 1855 d 4 Sep 1924 m Mary Emile Moreland, and Joseph David b 14 Jun 1858 d Sep 1933 m Susan Alice Dillon.

I have no marriage date for Isaac and Nancy. They may have married in TN. Isaac is said to be buried on the home place which is probably the "Grisham" home place, but I cannot prove it.

Nancy may have been a sister of Joseph Grisham who married Isaac'ssister, Martha Emeline.

I would love to hear from anyone who has information on this family to share.

MALONE, JOHN WESLEY 5 Mar 2005

I am looking for information on the marriages of John Wesley Malone, who was born in Phelps County, MO, about 1835. John was the son of Thomas C. and Elizabeth America Vest Malone. According to information from several sources John Wesley was married twice. His first marriage was to Malinda Dawson in June of 1856. Then in August 1857, he married Sarah Emily Matthews. The 1870 census lists him and Sarah with four children: Margaret, 11; Mary J., 10; Henry, 8; Sam J., 5. However, Mary J. (Jane), who was my great grandmother, told my mother (her granddaughter) she (Mary Jane) was raised by a stepmother. This suggests John Wesley was married a third time assuming the marriage dates are accurate. His first marriage (1856) lasted only a few months as the second marriage occurred less than 14 months after the first marriage in 1857. Also, all the children's birthdates show none of them were born early enough to have belonged to the first wife, Malinda Dawson. (Margaret, the oldest, was born in 1858, Mary Jane in 1859.) Can anyone help me clarify this situation?Faye Parker
