- MOREHOUSE One of this city's oldest citizen, James T. YAGER,
98, died at his home here at 5:12 a.m. Monday. From 1915 to 1939
he was editor - publisher of the MOREHOUSE MESSENGER. He sold
the paper to HARRY BURGESS, who returned it to the MOREHOUSE
HUSTLER.
Mr. YAGER then printed THE PENTECOSTAL TALKS, suppported by the
church and donations, until seven years ago.
He was born APRIL 8, 1865, NEAR MOBILE, ALA., AND ON FEB. 17,
1897 married the former Miss VIOLA SHAFFER of Texarkana, Ark.,
who preceded him in death in 1938. On April 21, 1940, he married
the former Miss VERNER MARLOW of Hopkinsville, Ky., who
survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. BERTHA FAGAN of Flint,
Mich., and a son, EDDIE YAGER of Tracy, California; ten
grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and seven great great
grandchildren.
The body will be removed from the Welsh Funeral Home in Sikeston
at 9 a.m. Wednesday to the Methodisht Church of Morehouse where
services will be conducted at 11 a.m. The REV. CHARLES CARR,
pastor, will officiate assisted by the REV. E. J. KERR.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Essex.

- MOREHOUSE - BURLEY EUGENE LEDBETTER,age 85, died Monday at
Missouri Delta Community Hospital. He was born on Aug. 5, 1907
at Tupelo, Miss., the son of the late David and Fannie HORTON
LEDBETTER.
He spent childhood in Tupelo, and moved to Charleston, Mo., in
1923, where he resided until 1947, when he moved to Morehouse.
He was a retired farmer, and member of the PENTECOSTAL CHURCH in
Morehouse. He was married to Miss Susie Bee RIDDLE, and 10
children were born to this union. One son preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, five sons, Burley Jr. of Morehouse,
Samuel of East St. Louis, Ill., Billy Wayne, Jimmie Dale, and
Clyde Raymond all at home; four daughters, Mrs. Mary WAGNER of
east St. Louis, Ill., Mrs. Terza Lucille WAGNER of Sikeston,
Mrs. Laura Louis ROBERTS of Morehouse, and Barbara Ann at home;
three brothers, Jessie LEDBETTER, Clyde LEDBETTER and Rufus
LEDBETTER, all of Sikeston, and seven grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Watkins Funeral Home in
Morehouse until Wednesday, with services to be held in
Pentecostal Church at 2 p.m., with the Rev. E. J. KERR
officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.

- Morehouse - Mrs. Ella Lena Cambron, wife of J. R. Cameron
and a resident of Morehouse 58 years died in Missouri Delta
Community Hospital Sikeston at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
She was born June 19, 1889 in Ohio County, KY., and spent her
childhood in Owensboro, Ky. She married Mr. CAMERON in December
of 1905. He survives.
Other survivors are two sons. George CAMERON of Sikeston and
Lavern CAMERON of San Francisco two daughters Mrs. Helen
RYVINSKY of San Francisco and Mrs. Madeline McELROY of South San
Francisco, six grand - children and five great grand children.
The body is at Watkins and Sons funeral Home where services will
be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel. The Rev. A. C. Sullivant
will officiate.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories
of Sikeston.
- Velma Lucille BUCKLEY,

- MOREHOUSE - Mrs. Velma Lucille BUCKLEY, died at her home
here Thursday. She had been a resident of this city since 1942.
She was born Nov. 17, 1919 in Savannah, Tenn., daughter of the
late John S. and Susie BOSWELL and spent her childhood there.
June 17,1934 she married Leander Buckley, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Charlie BUCKLEY, with the Armed
Forces at Ft. Knox, Ky., two daughters, Mrs. Emily THRASHER of
Morehouse and Miss Bettie Sue BUDKLEY, at home and one grand
child.
The body is to be removed from Watkins and Sons Funeral Home to
the Family home today to lie in state until time for services.
Services will be conducted in the Morehouse Assembly of God
Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. George HILL, of
Essex, officiationg and interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery
with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
- Mrs. Myrtle Florence TYSON.

- Morehouse - Mrs. Myrtie Florence TYSON, 71 died Tuesday at
her home in Morehouse. She was a daughter of the late Samuel and
Alice COMPTON TAYLOR, and was born at Dresden, Tenn. on Aug. 23,
1892.
She was a member of the Oneness Pentecost Church and was married
to Roy McWHORTER in 1912. Three children were born to this
union, one son, Ancil "Mac" McWHORTER of New Hall, Calif., who
survives. In 1925 she married to Alfred Joseph TYSON, who died
in 1948. Two daughters survive from this union, Mrs. John
(Lorene) BURNS BREEDEN, both of Morehouse; one brother, Tom
TAYLOR of Morehouse; one stepson. Clyde TYSON of Hollywood,
Calif., 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Watkins and Son Funeral Home with Funeral
arrangements still incomplete.

- James R. CATHEY, retired farmer and former resident of
Morehouse, died suddenly in a doctor's office at House Spring,
MO., at 10:45 a.m. Friday. He had been living with his daughter,
Mrs. Eva TILLY in St. Louis the past two years.
Mr. CATHEY was born Nov. 22, 1870 in Illinois and is survived by
the one daughter, Mrs. TILLY; two sons, Wilson CATHEY of Tyler,
Texas and Jesse CATHEY of Pontiac, Mich. 19 great grandchildren;
29 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Jackson Funeral Home until
time for services which will be conducted in the Jackson Chapel
at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in the Matthews Cemetery
with the Jackson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

- Morehouse - James Lilbourn GREER age 69, a former resident
of Morehouse for 20 years, died in Chicago, Ill. Wednesday. He
was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James GREER, and was born in
Perry County, Tenn., on Feb. 24, 1894. He spent his youth at
Lilbourn, and later moved to Canalou and Granite City, Ill.
after which he moved to Morehouse. He has been retired for the
past 10 years.
On Sept. 17, 1915, he was married to Miss Ruth Lee LANDERS, and
five children were born to this union. His wife preceded him in
death on July 7, 1962, as did one son.
He is survived by two sons, Raymound GREER of Palm Beach, Fla.,
and Bennie GREER of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters. Mrs. Hershel
SLOAN of Morehouse, and Mrs. Thelma FLURRY of Riverside, Calif.
150 (paper said) grandchildren; one brother, Jerome GREER of
Mansfield, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Alice LEE and Mrs. Pearl
VOLT, both of St. Louis, Mrs. Alice GUENDRIN and Ruth COOPER,
both of Cape Girardeau.
The body will be brought to the Watkins funeral Home in
Morehouse, where it will lie in state until Saturday. Services
will be conducted at the Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m.,
with the Rev. Jack BISHOP officiating.
Burial will be in
the Hagy Cemetery near Dexter.

- Morehouse - Samuel Oscar HINDMAN, 83 a resident of Morehouse
for the past 56 years died at his home Monday at 1:15 p.m. He
was born in Diehistadt on Oct. 2, 1879, a son of the late John
and Elizabeth HUMPHREY HINDMAN. He was a retired mill worker
with the Himmelberger - Harrison Manufacturing Company.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ell CARRINGTON of Morehouse;
two nieces and two nephews.
The body will lie in state at the Nunnelee Funeral Home of
Sikeston, where friends may call. Services will be held in the
chapel Wednesday at 2:00 ;.m. with the Rev. C. B. CARR of the
Morehouse Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be
in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston.

- Mrs. Edwin (Billie ALMENDA) LARGENT, of 419 Edmonson St.,
died at her resident at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday.
She was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Morehouse, the daughter of
William and Grace WOOLDRIDGE MATHIS. She was employed for many
years by theMcKnight-Keaton Grocery Company. She was a member of
the First Methodist Church. Her father died in 1948. On Feb. 20,
1959 she was married to: Edwin (Buddy) LARGENT, who survives.
She also leaves her mother: one son, William E. LARGENT,
stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station, Great Lakes, Mich.,
one daughter, Miss Janis LARGENT of St. Louis; three sisters.,
Mrs. Harry (EVELYN) BARNETT of Sikeston, Mrs. C.C. (Deloma)
SCHAGE of Cape Girardeau and Mrs. Charles (Lucille) FATZISGER of
sun Prairie, Wis.
The body will lie in state at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where
friends may call until services Friday at 2 p.m. in the First
Methodist Church. Dr. Lester McGEE, pastor, will
officiate.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories
Cemetery with Nunnelee's in charge of all arrangements.

Lex Monroe SMITH 84 year old resident of Morehouse, died
Thursday afternoon.
He was born Nov. 1, 1878 in Lebanon, Tenn., son of the late Bert
and Betty SMITH, and on Jan. 22, 1904, married Miss Faye Ellen
DUNN.
Surviving are his wife, at home; five daughters, Mrs. Gladys
ACKERMAN, Mrs. Laura KETTET and Mrs. Lois JOBE, all of Des
Moines, Ia., Mrs Lois PERRY of Chicago and Mrs. Ellen LAMBER of
Morehouse; three sons, Leon and Chester SMITH, both of St Louis,
and R. M. SMITH of Des Moines; 21 grandchildren and 36 great
grandchildren.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Home, Morehouse,
until time for services which will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the
Watkins Chapel. The Rev. Don GLOVER of Sikeston will officiate
and interment will be in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins and
Sons in charge of arrangements.

- Morehouse - Dulcia PROCTOR SHELL, age 73, died at her home
in Dexter Friday. She was born in Nobal, Ill., on Oct. 27, 1889,
daughter of the late Charles and Hester JOHNSON, spent her
childhood in Illinois, moved to Morehouse in 1913, where she
resided until four years ago when she moved to Dexter.
In 1907 she was married to Claude PROCTOR, who preceded her in
death in 1942. Two children were born to this union. On April
17, 1959 she married to Elmer SHELL of Dexter, who survives.
Also surviving are, one son, Woodrow PROCTOR of Morehouse; one
daughter, Mrs. Fay GRAHAM of Greenville, Tenn; two stepchildren.
Glen SHELL and Mrs Vester VANBIBBER, both of Dexter; one
grandson, four great grandsons; four brothers, Charies GADDIS of
Piggott., Ark Rannel JOHNSON of Tulsa, Okla., Raymond JOHNSON of
Lawton, Olka., Dennis JOHNSON, address unknown, and one sister,
Mrs. Bertha CARLEW.
The body will lie in state at the Watkins and Son Funeral Home,
with services to be held at 2;30 p.m. at the Morehuse Methodist
Church, with the Rev. James GRAHAM of Dexter officiation.
Burial will be in Memorial Park in Sikeston.

- Morehouse - Arthur Allen Kem, 79 of this city died in the
Missouri Delta Community Hospital, Sikeston, at 6:00 p.m., son
of the late Joseph and Susan HALE KEM, born 20 July 1883 died
April 1963 (SSDI), and for many years until his retirement had
been employed by Himmelberger - Harrison Co., Prior to his
association with the lumber company, he was employed by Scott
County Milling Co.
He is survived by one son, Murl KEM, of Sikeston; four sisters,
Mrs Niva GWALTNEY of Sikeston, Mrs Evelyn ROACH of Morehouse,
Mrs Alois TINE of Diagonal, Iowa, and Mrs Laura CHAPMAN of
O'Calia, Fla.; two brothers, Louis and Archie KEM both of
Sikeston; 16 grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Allbritton Funeral Home until
time for services which will be held in the First Baptist Church
of Morehouse at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. A. C. Sullivant will
officiate assisted by the Rev. Jack BISHOP.
Interment
will be in the Garden of Memories Cemtery. Sikeston, with
Allbritton Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

- MOREHOUSE- George Franklin HALE, 77 retired employee of
Himmelberger - Harrison Manufacturing Co. for whom he worked 45
years died in Normandy, Mo., nursing home Saturday.
He was born Dec. 6, 1885 in Charleston, son of the late William
and Rebecca BARLEY HALE, and spent his childhood in Charleston.
He came to Morehouse to live 51 years ago. On August 6, 1904 he
married Miss Emma COR NOLEN and eight children were born to the
union of whom five survive.
Surviving are four sons, Clarence, Herman and James HALE, all of
St. Louis and Frank HALE of Madison, Ill; one daughter, Mrs.
Thelma HILL of St. Louis; two brothers, Dallas HALE ANNISTON and
Monroe HALE of St Louis; 10 great grandchildren and two great
great grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home,
here, until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday when services will be conducted in
the Wtkins Chapel. Rev. A. C. Sullivant will officiate and
interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Charleston, with
Watkins and Sons in Charge of all arrangements.

past 60 years, died at her home at 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
She was born Jan. 15, 1878, near Essex and is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. Mary BROOK , Hackessin, Del., Mrs. Flava
HARAGRAD,Denim Springs, La., and Mrs Laura CURTIS of Detroit,
Mich.; two sons, Marvin CHAMBERS of Morehouse and John VAUGHN,
of Sikeston; two sisters, Ida and Jessie CORNELL, both of
Morehouse; a brother, Henry BENSON, of Morehouse; 23
grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
The body has been removed from the Jackson Funeral Home of
Sikeston to the family residence where it will lie in state
until time for services.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Oneness
Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Billy BUTLER of Sikeston

- Morehouse - Mrs. Rosetta PARIS MORGAN SIMMONS, 83, a
resident of Morehouse since 1950, died at 5:20 a.m. today in the
Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston. She was a
daughter of the late Samuel L. and Rosanna THOMPSON MORGAN, and
was born on Nov. 21, 1880 near Benton, Ky. She made her home
with a daughter, Mrs. Joe Ora LACY.
She spent her childhood and school in Benton, Ky., and moved to
East Prairie 50 years ago, before moving to Morehouse. She was
the last charter member of the Morehouse Nazarene Church. On
April 11, 1897 she was married to John HUNT, who died on Dec.
21, 1914. On June 1 1918 she was married to Samuel V. Simmons,
who died March 24, 1951. Nine children were born to first union,
with two preceding her in death.
Surviving are, Mrs. LACY and LeRoy HUNT, both of Morehouse,
Claude and Leslie HUNT and Mrs. Walter Evelyn CHANDLER, all of
St. Louis, Dahl HUNT of Denver, Ind. and Mrs. Herschel (Lucille)
POWELL of Poplar Bluff; also 23 grandchildren, 54 great
grandchildren, andthree great - great- grandchildren.
The body is at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home, with services
to be held in the Morehouse Nazarene Church Wednesday at 1:30
p.m. Rev. Curtis COOK of Kankakee, Ill. will officiate.

- MOREHOUSE - DWIGHT LOUIS FISHER, 92, died Saturday at
Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston.
Born Jan 2, 1889, near Logansport, Ind., to the late Jane Ann
HIMMELBERGER and Samuel A. FISHER, he was graduated from the
Purdue University School of Electrical Engineering where he was
a member of Tau Beta Pl. Honorary engineerng Fraternity.
He was employed by General Electric Co. of Schenectady, N.Y.,
and served as assistant district superintendent of Central
Illinois Public Service Co. of Carterville, Ill. In June 1914,
he came to Missouri, accepting a position with Himmelberger
Harrison Lumber Co., a company established by his grandfather,
Isaac Himmelberger, in 1880. He held the position of
superintendent and vice president in that company until his
retirement in 1972.
A 66 year member of Masonic Lodge No. 603 AF&AM of Morehouse, he
was a 56 year member of the Scottish rite and Shrines Moolah
Temple of St. Louis, a charter member of the board of Missouri
Delta Community Hospital.
An active member of the camp development committee for the
Southeast Missouri Council of the Boy Scouts of America for over
30 years, he was awarded the Silver Beaver, scouting's highest
award.
Surviving are; his wife of 68 years, Grace POWELL FISHER; three
daughters, Jane HENDON, Helen CHILDS and Betty MEDBOURN of
Morehouse; one son, Roger FISHER o f Lompoc, Calif.; one
brother, Glen FISHER of El Paso, Texas; and 14 grandchildren and
23 great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the
Crew-Welsh Funeral Chapel with Masonic rites scheduled for 7:30
Monday under the direction of Masonic Lodge 603 of Morehouse.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home with the Rev. James DAVIS, pastor of the Rauch
Spense Memorial Methodist Church in Morehouse, officiating.
Burial will be at the Logansport, Ind. Fisher Family Mausoleum.

- Sikeston - Mrs. Ollie Lee SMITHPETERS, 70 years old wife of
James Carol SMITHPETERS and a resident of Morehouse died at 1:30
a.m. today at a local hospital where she had been a patient
since Sunday.
Mrs. SMITHPETERS was born Oct 4, 1887 in Arkansas the daughter
of Wesley and Mary EVANS FRANCIS. She was a member of the
Morehouse Pentecostal Church.
In addition to the husband, she is survived by six daughters
Mrs. Clara STURGEON of Long Beach Calif. Mrs. Gladys HEIM of
Hayti, Mrs. Cora C. NEWTON of Morehouse, Mrs. Lucille CARRINGTON
of Garden City, Mich., Mrs. Dolly FARRIS of Detroit, Mich. and
Mrs. Nettie BENFORD of St. Louis, two sons, James R.
SMITHPEPPERS of Barden City, Mich., and David SMITH of
Melvindale, Mich., six brothers Larkin FRANCIS of Pico, Calif,
Gus FRANCIS of Burrdon, Ark, John Thomas and Austin FRANCIS, all
of Paris Tenn. 21 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

- MOREHOUSE - Oscar Earnest STROUD, who was injured in a
traffic accident nine days ago died in Missouri Delta Community
Hospital, at 10 a.m. Monday. He was 60.
Mr. Stroud was born Nov. 22, 1902 near Gray Ridge, son of
Sharman and Hattie YATES STROUD now of Idalia, and on Jan.22,
1934 married Miss Ruth JORDAIN, who survives.
Other survivors besides his wife and parents are a son, Earnest
Jennins STROUD, Morehouse; four brothers, Ed STROUD, Peoria,
Ill.; Archie, Freddie and Ira, all of Idalia; one sister Mrs.
Fronie MONROE, Idalia, and three grandchildren.
The body will remain at the family residence until time for
services which will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Morehouse
Baptist Church. The Rev. Allie SULLIVANT will officiate assisted
by the Rev. J. L. Bishop.
Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery at Idalia with
Nunnelee Funeral Chapel of Sikeston in charge.

- Morehouse - James Washington CROWLEY, 39 former Morehouse
resident, died in Shreveport, La. Friday from a gunshot wound.
Details as to how and where the tragedy occurred were not
available.
He was born Feb. 14, 1924 in Truman, Ark., but moved to
Morehouse when a baby. He spent his childhood here attended the
Morehouse schools.
On July 4, 1947 he married the former Miss Lela Jane HILL. He
was a veteran of World War II and a decon of the First Baptist
Church before he moved to Shreveport in 1961.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James CROWLEY of
Morehouse: his wife and three children, Jim, Steve and Patricia;
three brothers, Claude and Floyd CROWLEY of Sikeston and Ray
CROWLEY of Morehouse.
The body will arrive at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in
Morehouse Sunday.

- Morehouse - Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. today in
the Pentecostal Church for Guy NOLAN, 45, who died at his home
at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. E. J. KERR officiated. Burial was
in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Essex with Jackson Funeral
Home in charge
Mr. NOLAN, a plumber, was born June 6, 1918 at East Prairie, son
of the Milburn and Mary TRAVIS NOLEN. He is survived by his
step=father Thomas TAYLOR of this city.

- Morehouse- Mrs. Dora C. CHROZIER, 77 years old, died on
Friday after being ill two months.
Mrs. CHROZIER was born in Lutesville on Nov. 3, 1881 and was a
daughter of Wm. H. and Ann HARRISON SHIRLEY. Her husband,
Charles R. CHROZIER died on May 23, 1954.
Surviving are two sons, A. C. CHROZIER of Placierville, Calif.
and Elmer CHROZIER of Morehouse; three daughters, Mrs. Homer
BRYANT and Mrs. Ed CARRINGTON of Flint, Mich.; 9 grandchildren
and 5 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Nunnelee Funeral Home in Sikeston. Plans
tentatively are to hold the rites at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday at the
funeral home. Rev. A. J. KERR is to have charge, and burial is
to be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

- Dexter-Mrs. Frances May LEMONS BARLOW, 69, died at her home
here Jan.1.
Born at Ridgway, Ill., Jan. 24, 1889, she moved to Missouri,
Essex and Es Dorado, Ill., moved to Dexter in June, 1958. She
was a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church.
In 1904 she was married to the late James D. Lemons who preceded
her in death in 1943. In 1952 she was married ot Orilie E.
BARLOW at El Dorado, Ill. He survies. Also remaining are six
children, Mrs. Opal HART, Mrs. Toots WALLS, Mrs. Clara
Christian, John, James, and Russel LEMONS all of Dexter; one
brother, Gus HEATH, Matholdo, Ill.;two sisters, Mrs. Daisy SAULS
and Mrs. Matt CLIFFORD, both of El Dorado, Ill and 21 great
grandchildren. There are three step-children, Plate and Claude
LEMONS, both of Essex, and Mrs. Lizzie HAYES, Flint, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon in
the Watkins & Son Chapel here.
Burial will be in the Triplett Cemetery.
