Charles Spencer APEL Charles Spencer Apel, 85 of Madison, passed away on Thursday evening, March 2, 2006, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon. Apel was born on February 1, 1921, to Henry and Anna Katherine (Lusby) Apel. On May 4, 1947, in Moberly, he married Mary Jane Powell, and she survives. He lived in the Madison area most of his life where he worked for Baker Lumber Company for 15 years, Stamper Feed Industries, and farmed. HE served in the Army during World War II. Preceding him in death were his parents, one grandchild, four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Apel of Madison; two sons, Terry D. and Jan Apel of Kearney, MO, and Joseph Allen Apel of Clark; one brother, David Eugene Apel of Moberly; three sisters, Helen Smith of Moberly, Florence Reed of Clark, and Sue and Jesse Smith of Clark; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Million-Taylor Funeral Home in Madison with a visitation on Sunday from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment was at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Madison. Reverend Tom Downy officiated. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.
