Ornburn Aug 30 1997 My great grandfather, Ome
Ornburn, was the blacksmith in Grandville around the
turn of the century. My grandfather, Benedict Joseph
Ornburn, was born there in 1900. His mother was Tina
Durbin Ornburn. One story: my grandfather showed
mathematical gifts early. As a small child, his father
would take him down to the general store and set him
on the counter where he would take on all comers,
solving difficult arithmetic problems in his head..
They moved to Moberly shortly before Ben started high
school. Another: Ben would talk of riding his pony to
a one room school house.... |
