The
first annual meeting of Monroe Association was held at Salem
Baptist Church, in Monroe County, October 4, 1905. The
introductory sermon at the meeting was preached by R. T. Colborn.
W. L. Crawford was chosen moderator and H. H. Utterback was made
clerk. Thirteen churches made a report having a total membership
of 1,326 with 87 baptisms the previous year.
This
association at its meeting in 1933 chose J. C. Dowell as
moderator and M. B. Powers as clerk. There were thirteen
churches in the association at this time with a total membership
of 1,331, and they had baptized in the preceding year 17
converts. Among the ministers were :
