Mercer County, MO Genealogical & Historical Society

Welcome to the Mercer County, MO Genealogical & Historical Society Homepage

The Mercer County Genealogical & Historical Society is located in the Mercer County Library at 601 Grant St., Princeton, MO 64673. The library is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mon., Tues., Wed. and Fri. On Thursday, it is open 9-9 and on Sat. 9-12. There is a history room in the library which is open the same hours.

We have a changing history exhibit in the court house, on the middle floor of the court house, which may be viewed M-F from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The present exhibit is now a display of toys for Christmas in times past. Some of the items in it are a china-headed doll in a handmade, wooden doll cradle with a piece of blue and white counterpoint under the doll, a Shirley Temple cardboard doll with paper clothes, an iron ice wagon pulled by a horse, a wooden clown crayon and pencil box, small wooden furniture from the Depression period, a china tea set and a number of other toys. The toys are sitting on cloths with a Christmas motif. The case itself was ordered about 1895 by Dr. Fullerton of Princeton for his pharmacy. The case in its original wooden shipping case was given to our society a few years ago, never having been out of the shipping case.
