Marion Lodge No. 31, I. O. O.
F., was instituted by Charles D. Brown, Deputy Grand Master. The
dispensation was issued in March, 1848. The charter bears date
March 15, 1848. Some of the charter members were Thomas L.
Anderson, George G. Mahan, D. R. Boswell, Wm. N. Cook, and E.
Taylor. Some of the first officers were Wm. N. Cook, N. G.; E.
Taylor, V. G.; George G. Mahan, secretary; D. R. Boswell,
treasurer. The present officers
are R. I. Winn, N. G.; J. M. Baker, V. G. D. S. Thomas, secretary;
R. L. Bowles, treasurer. D. S. Thomas is also lodge deputy. The
lodge meets in a brick hall. The present membership is 34.
