Marion County Old Settlers Association

On the 4th of July the old settlers of the  county held a reunion and formed an association at Palmyra. Capt. Wm. Carson was made president. A number of the first settlers were present, including John Palmer, R. R., S. W., and W. H. Vanlandingham, all of whom came to Marion in 1818. This meeting was addressed by Hon. Thos. L. Anderson,  Henry G. Feagan, Stephen Gupton, and others.

The Old Settlers' Association held regular meetings, annually, for some years. The following were the members, and opposite their names is the year when each one came to Missouri. Unfortunately, the year when each one came to Marion county was never given. A few of thos whose names are here given including Hons. L. V. Bogy and J. S. Rollins, never resided in this county: --
