The
next annual Fair will be held at the fair grounds near the city of
Palmyra, commencing on Wednesday, the 14th day of
October, and continuing four days. The fair grounds, which are
owned by the association, are beautifully located, finely
improved, and speak well for the enterprise of the farmers of
Marion County.
At
a recent meeting of the Board of Directors of this association,
the following resolution was adopted, which ahs been forwarded to
us by the Secretary:
Resolved,
that N. J. Colman, Esq., be invited to deliver the Annual Address
before this Association, at our next Annual Fair, on Thursday, the
15th day of October next, and that the Secretary be
instructed to make known to Mr. Colman this resolution, and to
solicit his compliance there with.
For the compliment of the
resolution and the very polite letter of the Secretary which
accompanied it, we return our thanks. We will endeavor to be
present on the occasion, but at this early it will be impossible
for us to give a decisive answer. We desire to attend as large a
number of the fairs of our State as possible, and much will depend
upon the order in which the fairs of adjoining counties will
succeed one another. We would prefer however, to have some other
speaker selected by the associations which desire to hear us, and
if it is possible to be present, we can also have time to say all
that we shall desire. |
