Would
you please let us know why you joined the project and what your link is
to the Colonists, the surnames or the area?
We would also appreciate it if you would provide something for
the research or history portions of your page, and if you haven’t
already, something for the genealogy section as well.
Just complete the questions below.in red.
I have left space for answers.
1.
Your kit number: 84479
2.
Your name: LIVING
3.
Why did you join the Lost Colony project?
I
had communicated with a 63 of 64 match, VA-5 [I am NC-12] on the Powell
Surname DNA project and he indicated that my line would converge on his
with a 99% probability in the last 24 generations.
So it seem logical that I sould see if I could fill in the line
from Mordica Powell, b. Isle of Wight, d. Nov 1800
4.
How is your Y-line DNA line connected to the colonists, the
surnames, Native people or the location?
By
surname, and possibly location, since I trace back to Isle of Wight.
The
3 sections of the website are divided into genealogy, research and
history.
Genealogy
– typically this would be the specific genealogy of the line listed
here on the site….so the mtdna for you.
I
am including a mini-genealogy form below for you to complete which
should help you to document your maternal ancestry.
Alternatively, you can upload a gedcom to either your personal
results page at Family Tree DNA or mitosearch and let us know that you
have done so.
5.
Please provide a brief write
up (2 paragraphs to one page
in length) on your line!
I
know that the family moved from NC/VA when the Ohio Territory opened up
and settle in the Preble County and Montgomery County areas.
Mostly all were farmers, and lived to be very old.
I know that Benjamin Powell took care of his mother after his
father died and his brother would also have her live with them – this
is from the census.
7.
Do you have a family website that includes this line?
If so, please provide the
link.
On
family tree .com I had a gedcom file but it needs to be updated
Research
– this would include such items as papers you’ve written about the
family, deeds you’ve extracted, or other things relevant to your
particular line.
8.
Do you have research items to contribute?
If so, paste here or send separately.
Not
really – I have been trying to get a copy of
“The Virginians” without success
History
– this would include any general history of the area or a tribe or
something not included above.
9.
Do you have history to share?
If so, paste here or send separately.
Nothing
of significance on the Powell side
10.
Are you willing to have your e-mail address and first name listed
as a contact for your kit? If so, what is the e-mail you want listed?
Yes
- [email protected]
11.
Are you willing to be a coordinator or resource for any of the
Lost Colony surnames? If
so, which ones?
Not
right now – I don’t know enough about this genealogy science
Thank
you very much,
