Even though I have no documented proof of this, there is a story of 3 brothers (John, Christopher & Benjamin) sometime in the late 1700's got shipwrecked on the North Carolina Outer Banks.   Benjamin was injured and was nursed back to health by an Indian girl who he later married.    I do not know the parents of Nehemiah but one of my uncles believes Nehemiah's mother could be named Sarah based on the 1820 Hyde Co. census.  The name Sarah has been carried down the family line so this is a possibility.  As for the 2 other brothers, I've been told they moved inland such as maybe in Wake County (Raleigh) for instance since there is a large Neal presence.  At this point, it's all speculation.
