Lucas, Lucus - Surname research FTDNA 17468 mailto: [email protected]
Genealogy Report
Additional Information
I did try to recruit some Lucases from Chocowinity but all my letters were returned as undeliverable. I think I recall that a William Lucas was one of the Lost Colony settlers and I was trying to locate a DNA pattern from a descendant to see if the Lucases from North and South Carolina were related possibly.
My Lucas lineage can be seen at: http://lucas-family.org/ see John Lucas He first appears in NC prior to 1779 and was related to a Lucas in Cumberland and Robeson County, NC. - Charles and Lewis Lucas who appeared about the same time. The DNA pattern shows a value of 22 for marker 390 which makes the pattern rather unique and seems to have first been found in northeastern present day Germany. All my genealogy to date can be found at: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=clucas&I11.x=40&I11.y=5 Most of these names are eastern NC families. I did ask to join your group on FT DNA but never heard anything more. There is more information at: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Lucas/default.aspx My DNA would represent most all Lucases from NC except for 2:
