The Viola Mark Hunt collection. Submitted by Patricia Hunt Rouleau and Mark Hunt. Individuals in these photos are probably related to families of John Williams Moore or Daniel James Hunt of Lawrence County. Many were taken at studios in Mt. Vernon circa 1880-1900. There is a connection to Kansas since a few were taken in Sedan, KS. Scanned from xerographic copies, these are grainy but most have recognizable features. |

My name is Susie DeBusk. I have a picture of a man that I can't identify. I found this picture in my grandmother's picture box. All I know was this picture was taken in Aurora by a photographer named Hoge. I am guessing the picture was taken between 1910 & 1914. I am also guessing the man is between 20 - 25 years old. | File 003: Photo Postcard no date | "Just A Day At Dick's Store, Mt. Vernon, Mo" Looks like there could be 48 stars on the flag. Probably around Christmas time. Can you identify anyone in this photo? Judy 4/11/02 Sue Compton thinks the man up front in the white apron is Dick Banner who had a store in Mt. Vernon in the 1930s. 07/28/02 "My name is Al Mieswinkel. Both sides of my family have lived in and around Mt. Vernon since about 1830. It just so happens that I have the exact same postcard that you have posted. My father who passed away in 1999, told me the name of one person in the picture. He at one time was a farmhand for Jacob and June Weber just east of Mt. Vernon. June is the lady in the exact middle of the picture at the bottom with a hat on, has a small white line running vertically on her face. I knew June personally and this looks very much like her." |

Armstrong: "I noticed in the picture that one of the children was holding a small chalk board that said 'North Sycamore, 1927-28' but I was told by many relatives that this was the school house that is located in Stinson. Berry); 4th front row standing (tallest) prob. George Peck; 1st man in back row poss. John Peck; 5th front row standing may be Helen Isabel Margason; 2nd seated girl may be Marilda Margason. The Margason and Peck children were cousins. Several members of the Pleasant View community grange are listed in the 1974 Lawrence County History, on page 360. Those members may be shown. |
