Did not completely abstract these books. Original intent was to abstract grand jury members only but I have listed all miscellaneous information pulled as well.

Page 1: Oct term AD 1845: Robert B. Perkins vs Patrick and James Finesty; plaintiff by his attorney suggests the death of Patrick Finesty one of the said defendants. Patrick and James Finesty vs Robert B. Perkins; comes James Finesty one of the said plaintiffs by his attorney and suggests the death of Patrick Finesty one of the said plaintiffs.
Page 8: 20 Apr 1846: Several indictments filed for selling spirituous liquors without a license and one against Daniel Turvey for cohabitating with a negro woman.
Page 10: 19 Oct 1846: Littleberry Mason vs Casper Roth; William Matthews, Justice of Peace in Mt Vernon Twp the successor of Wade Stroud who had tried the cause.
Page 11: 19 Oct 1846: State vs Jacob Hoshaw, trespassing on state lands. Verdict; not guilty.
Page 12: 19 Oct 1846: Richard W. Owens vs John L. McFall: Jury of 6 found for plaintiff, $1.62 plus osts.
Page 15: 19 Apr 1847: State vs Daniel Turvey; Verdict, not guilty
Page 18: 19 Apr 1847: State vs Isaac Lemmons; assault with intent to kill; Verdict, guilty; sentenced, $500 fine and three months in the county jail.
Page 19: 19 Apr 1847: John Dunkle and Zebulon Dunkle vs Winfield S. M. Wright; Verdict, guilty; assess the plaintiff {sic} the sum of $17.50 for damages.
Page 21: State vs Isaac Lemmons; fine commuted to additional month in county jail beyond the three months already given as sentence.
Page 22: James Bell vs Gilfred Bridges.
Page 23: Bell vs Bridges; hung jury.
Page 24: Special Term 26 July 1847. Page 24 marked erroneous entry.
Page 25: 26 Jul 1847: State of Missouri vs Wayne Oliver in the murder of Montgomery Means.
Page 32: State vs Oliver; hung jury.
Page 33: Special term 27 Sep 1847: Witness recognizance in State of Missouri vs Wayne Oliver; $50 each. Sheriff ordered to take all lawful and proper means to secure the health and comfort of the defendant in this cause.
Page 36 Oct term 1847: State vs William W. Simms, assault and battery; Verdict, not guilty.
Page 40: New jury pool called for State vs Oliver. Jesse M. Taylor, a member of jury pool charged with contempt for making loud noises outside the court on Tuesday 19 Oct. Fined $5 and remanded into custody of sheriff until fine paid.
Page 43: Oct term 1847: Dan S. Young produces to court in writing the deputation of Windfield S. M. Wright, coroner of Lawrence County as deputy coroner...approved.
Page 44: Oct term 1847: State vs Oliver; jury selected.
Page 48. Tuesday, Nov 2 of Oct term 1847: State vs Oliver; Verdict, not guilty
Page 49. 17 Apr 1848: Jury summoned by county coroner Windfield S M Wright.

Page 61: Special term 10 July 1848 called for trial of Bright Cole, forgery.
Page 72: Apr term 1849: State vs Thomas Tervey, gaming, hung jury.
Page 83: Oct term 1849: State vs Edmund A. Pace, assault.
Page 84: Oct term 1849: Securities of Pace surrender defendant; placed in custody of sheriff.
Page 87: Oct term 1849: State vs John Auxies, assault; Verdict, not guilty.
Page 90: Oct term 1849: Pace enters new recognizance.
Page 104: Apr term 1850: State vs Andrew Kennedy; Verdict, not guilty (pg 105)
Page 108: Apr term 1850: New jury selected for State vs Pace; Verdict, guilty.
Page 110: 17 April 1850; term of imprisonment of James Stooper reduced to 10 days in county jail from the 15th instant.
Page 112: 17 April 1850; State vs Cuthbirth Stump, disturbing the peace of a family in the night time; Verdict, guilty; fined $18 and costs (pg 113)
Page 119: 19 April 1850; fine commuted for Pace to 10 days imprisonment in county jail from this date.
Page 123: 20 April 1850 before Clerk Wear in Vacation [Note: 13th Circuit District included Dade, Lawrence, Barry, Newton, Jasper counties. When judge was sitting at court in another county the Circuit Clerk held legal power "in vacation."] Riley Yoakum vs Cuthbirth [Stump]; "Plaintiff states that on the 19th day of March the defendant took and kept certain slaves belonging to plaintiff, that is to say one a negro woman named Becky of the value of five hundred dollars and one a negro child named Emily of the value of two hundred dollars one a negro girl named Susan of the value of three hundred dollars and then and from thence further to unjustly and wrongfully detain the same from plaintiff. The said plaintiff then and still being legally entitled to the possession thereof all of which is to the damage of said plaintiff one thousand dollars for which he asks judgment and claims to possession of said slaves."
Page 125: 21 Oct 1850: House on lot #10 of block #4 [probably in Mt Vernon] occupied by Charles F. Wilson and owned by Van S. Young to be sold to satisfy judgment to David Johnson and Samuel M. Anderson for work and labor charges performed within six months previous to filing.
Page 128: Oct term 1850: State vs Moses H. Shelton; Verdict, not guilty.
Page 129: Oct term 1850: State vs Cuthbirth Stump, Paulina Stump and Adam Stump, felonious assault. Court sustained motion to quash; allows plaintiff to appeal to Missouri Supreme Court.
Page 133: Oct term 1850: Cuthbirth Stump, his wife Pauline Stump and infant son Adam Stump gave recognizance in amount of six hundred dollars to guarantee their appearance at Supreme Court in Jefferson City on second Monday, January next, to answer to charge of felonious assault.
Page 137: Apr term 1851: State vs John Weldy, disturbing the peace of a family in the night time.
Page 140: Apr term 1851: State vs Joshua Winters, disturbing the peace of a family in the night time.

Page 147: Oct term 1851: State vs Andrew Miller, felonious assault.
Page 194: Apr term 1853: State vs John Estes, for betting on an election, enters guilty plea, fined $5 and costs.
Page 195: Apr term 1853: State vs Z. Berry, Wm. Berry and Constantine Berry, for riot.
Page 214: Oct term 1853: State vs Berry, Berry and Berry; Verdict, guilty, fined $81.
Page 258: Apr term 1854: Fri, May 26; civil action for title to real estate; John C. Price vs Henrietta Williams, William Williams, Josephene Williams, infant children of John S. Williams and John S. Williams. Adjudged that Lot #7 in Block #2 in town of Mt. Vernon to John C. Price, his heirs and assigns. [Note: this is not Judge John Williams, first settler of Lawrence County. This family is listed 1850 census District 47 as (#7) Williams, John S., 40,M,KY; Amelia M., 33,F,VA; Henrietta, 9,F,MO; William L., 7,F{sic},MO; Josephine, 6,F,MO; Julia, 4,F,MO; Mary, 2,F,MO. Amelia, Julia and Mary are not listed in the civil suit 1854. Price moved his family from Dade County to this house. In the 1960�s my mother still referred to the house as "the Williams house." --jjr]

Page 107: 30 May 1859 "Pool of 40 for grand and petit jurors selected in proportion to free population of each township": members of pool listed by township. Grand Jury selected by lottery from pool.
Page 164: Special Term 1 Sep 1859. Matter of Jordan J. Gibson, bigamy.
Page 166: Nov 1859 term Jury pool listed again by township and Grand Jury selected by lottery.
Page 220: Special Term 2 Mar 1860. James Bird indicted for running horses on a public road. Plea, guilty. Fined $1 and costs.
Page 4__: Nov 1863 Term Wed Nov 11, 1863; Thomas Taylor vs William Littrell; defendant cannot be served with process in this cause...publication be made notifying defendant that an action has been commenced against him in the Circuit Court of Lawrence County by petition and attachment for a felony in taking property of plaintiff to the value of $120. Published in the Springfield Journal, for four weeks successively with last insertion to be four weeks prior to beginning of term.

Thompson, James Tunnell, Algine Turk, Noah Turk, Thomas Turk, Thomas Wastell, Dr. White, Josephus Williams, Brown Williams, James Wills; for burning a grist mill of the value of ten thousand dollars, and a large quantity of wheat and corn of the value of one thousand dollars, and a large quantity of flour and corn meal of the value of five hundred dollars, and one wool carding machine of the value of one thousand dollars, a large quantity of wool of the value of five hundred dollars, also the machinery necessary to put in operation a wool spinning and weaving manufactory of the value of one thousand dollars, also setting fire to and burning the dwelling house of the said William Bowers of the value of one thousand dollars, also setting fire to and burning the dwelling house of said George F. Bowers of the value of one thousand dollars, also setting fire to and burning the dwelling house of said John Bowers of the value of one thousand dollars for all which plaintiffs ask judgment for damages of thirty thousand dollars. Case granted a change of venue to Greene County; then defendants were awarded right to be tried separately. The cases were scattered throughout the state.
Wed, Nov 15 1865: Wm. A. McCanse surrenders principal and Bernard Norton placed in custody of sheriff.
