Turner Cemetery (Dog Town) Transcribed by Jennifer Smithson, Sept., 2000. Transcriber's Notes: There are about 7 graves and all but one are above ground. They are just covered with rocks. The woman owning the land was very nice to help us. She took us right down in her field to show us. Most of the headstones have been stolen though, she said, so they were gone. She told us Dog Town was just over the hill from there. They used to have "wood lots" there were people had so many acres of their own land where they could cut wood for themselves. She also thought they have had picnics and get togethers down by the creek because it had such nice wildflowers. According to the land owner's deed, the last person buried here was in 1897. Thomas died July 12, 1878 aged 4 months John Shields died Mar. 4, 1880 aged 9 years (shares stone with Thomas) Watson Lynch died July 29, 1852 The remainder are unidentified.
