None of them was ever drunk and never played a game of cards and all served in the 27th home guards under Capt. Duncan and when they disbanded the four brothers went to Kansas and joined the 3rd state militia. The regiment was so large that it was divided and they were transfered to the 21st regiment under Colonel Sandy Low of MO and our regiment went into MO and fought Price on the Blue (river) in Jackson Co. and helped drive him out of MO. The four Reece brothers are Republicans today and never followed after strange Gods. They have been members of the Methodist Episcopal church for more than fifty years. Their ages combined is 304 years. If there are four brothers in Johnson Co. who can beat this we would like to hear from them. The Reece brothers are highly respected citizens.
