Any woman, over eighteen years of age, of good character and who is descended from an ancestor who rendered civil, military or naval service to our country during the years 1784 -1815 inclusive, shall be eligible to membership, provided the applicant shall be acceptable to the society and shall take an oath of allegiance to the United States.
