"Edward Simpson, born Missouri about 1863, was called James E. Simpson in the record of his marriage to Nellie Barron, October 22, 1889, in Howard County. He was a son of Edward Simpson (born Kentucky about 1818) and Caroline (born Kentucky about 1828). He died before 1900, when his wife was listed in the Howard County census as a widow."

"Born about 1870, Nellie was a daughter of John and Marion (Marian) Barron. Wife of James Edward Simpson. As a widow, she lived in Fayette with her brother Charles and his family in 1920."

"1817-1904, husband of Mary Franklin Snell. He was father of seven children with his first wife, the former Susan Franklin, and of five children with his second wife. The six children of Elijah Snell and Mary Franklin also were in the Aquilla Calton Tatum household."

"May have been James F. Tatum, 1850-1909, a son of Aquilla and Susan Franklin Tatum. He lived in Kennett, in southeastern Missouri. However, there was at least one other James in the family."
Mary Franklin Snell Tatum
Additional information provided by Gerald Pierce, who lives in Armstrong in 2010.
"1825-1903. Her parents, George and Lucy FRANKLIN, moved from Kentucky to Howard County, Missouri, in the 1830s, settling near Fayette. Mary married Elijah Snell (1817- ca. 1850) in 1841. When he died in the California gold rush, she was left a widow with six children. She
remarried in 1857. Her second husband was Aquilla Calton Tatum (1817-1904), a widower whose first wife was Susan Franklin, Mary Franklin's older sister. Mary Franklin Snell Tatum was a grandmother of one of my grandfathers, William J. Snell of Armstrong."

"My great grandparents and their oldest sons, William A. and Harry H., in front of their farm near Fayette, MO. I don't know who the other man is. I have been told he was the local school teacher. I have estimated the picture was taken around 1891 or 1892."
