[Parents unknown] He married (1) Emily BOTTS 21 January 1843 in Howard Co, Missouri. She was born 27 May 1818 in Kentucky, and died 18 April 1857. His son Sidney also served under General PRICE and was a Physician as well, he was married to Mary D. WOODS. Sidney was County Clerk around 1880. John's son Enoch B. CUNNINGHAM (my gggrandfather) was married to Irene ROPER dau of William ROPER and his wife Maranda. She was grandaughter of Jesse Mims ROPER and Catherine WILLIAMS. Enoch was appointed Postmaster of Glasgow on Jan 20,1871. John's son John P. GRIGSBY...BISHOP...BISWELL...WAYLAND
Sarah Jane BISHOP, (birth name), b. ca. 1833, Ohio, d. Aug. 2, 1874, Howard Co., MO. Sarah Jane was adopted by Thomas A. GRIGSBY and wife, Sarah Ann (WAYLAND) GRIGSBY. When and where? Sarah Jane, age 16, was on the 1850 Howard Co., MO census with the GRIGSBY'S and listed with her birth name of BISHOP. Was she adopted after that? Or could she have been at an age when adopted, she was allowed to keep her birth name? Although, she used the GRIGSBY name when she married Shelton Rice BISWELL on Sept. 16, 1858 in Howard Co., MO. Could she have been a niece of Thomas or his wife, Sarah? The next question is -who were her parents, and what happened to them? Did she have siblings? The GRIGSBY'S moved from Ohio to Howard Co. in 1838. Did Sarah Jane's parents move as well when the Grigsby's did? Or was Sarah Jane already living with the GRIGSBY'S when they left Ohio? It is understood she was adopted in Howard Co. This is a big mystery in our family, and would like to try and solve it. I appreciate any and all response. Thank you. Jean Phillips [email protected]

WILLIAMS...ROPER
Does any one have, or know where I can get, a list of the names on the monument in front of the Howard County Courthouse. I have relatives that were in both the Rev. War and War of 1812. I would like to look at a complete list to see if I can find more names other than Alford WILLIAMS and Catherine ROPER. Thanks so much, Georgia Murray [email protected]

FAULCONER...CALLAWAY...HUTSELL...HUTTSELL
My g-grandmother, Mary Margaret FAULCONER, daughter of Carter and Susan Ann HUTSELL FAULCONER, was orphaned in Harrison County KY in 1848 or 49. I believe the children came to Howard County with their grandmother, Anna CALLAWAY HUTSELL, (daughter of James CALLAWAY who appears on the Howard County Revolutionary War Veterans Monument), and other HUTSELL/HUTTSELL relatives. I know that her older sister Rebecca was married in Howard County in the late 1850's. I am trying to establish Mary Margaret's residence there in the 1850's, She married Andrew Newell GROVER in Kansas City in 1860-something.
