Sara Bridgett COLLIER and James DUFFY or DUFFEY lived in Harrison County in Melbourne Mo. in 1900. They were the parents of Dora Ethel DUFFY or DUFFEY born in Melbourne on June 4, 1900. Another child, Sherman DUFFEY or DUFFY was also born in Melbourne..I am not sure of the date. I am looking for birth, death, and marriage records of Sara and James DUFFEY or DUFFY. They were probably married 1895-1899, so I am guessing they were born in the 1870's. I am also looking for other family members still living in the area who might share stories to go with my family history. Dora Ethel DUFFY or DUFFEY was my grandmother. She was married to Bert O. WATKINS. Their daughter, Dixie Lee WATKINS, was born Oct. 4, 1922 in Melbourne or Gallatin. I am also looking for a record of her birth. There was another child that died. . I don't have a name or date. Dixie Lee WATKINS married Herman TAYLOR in Kansas City. I am their daughter.
I would also like to find out more information about Bert O. WATKINS parents and grandparents. He was born July 12, 1898 in Harrison Co. to Essie Gertrude GAMBLE and Walter WATKINS. He died Sept 23, 1977 in Trenton MO Thanks in advance for any help ya'll can give me. Mary Taylor Oldham

SMITH, Arthur Beaman. Born Harrison County about 1879. Married Dell CHAMBERLIN in Harrison County October 12, 1900. His parents were William Preston SMITH AND Martha Francis GRINSTEAD. Dell CHAMBERLIN'S parents were William and Rachel Chamberlin. My Great Grandfather Smith was a farmer in Harrison County. My Great Grandfather Chamberlin was a school teacher. My Grandfather had four brothers - Lovell, Edgar, Roy, and Clayton. My Grandmother had one sister, Mary. The Grinstead's had come from Kentucky. I have traced the Grinstead family back to Virginia prior to the Revolution but have some gaps for the period between then and their presence in Harrison County. They later moved on to Oregon or Washington. My Grandparents had three daughters - Oda, Lavar, and Hazel (my Mother). Oda and Lavar were born in Harrison County and are buried at Blytedale cemetary. The Smith family owned property in northern Harrison county unitl the mid sixties and it was last in possession of my second cousin, Clayton Smith of Carthage. I would like assistance in tracing backward from the known times.

Greetings, I'm seeking others who may be connected to this family line or have additional information.
Thanks.

2. Samuel Saunders born Feb.1837 bap Bethania Independent Chapel, Talgarth Wales, Mar. 19th, 1837
*Ann ? born 1842 Wales. May have died about 1895.
3. Mattie Saunders born about 1869 MO.
3. John Saunders born about 1873 MO.
3. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Saunders born about July 1879.
About 1868 Sam and Ann moved along with his brother Philip and family to Yellow Creek Township, St. Catharine, Linn Co., MO. In 1870, Samuel was a farmer while Ann was keeping house. Shortly after their arrival, Mattie was born. Then about 1874 their son John was born. By June 3rd of 1880, Samuel and his family had moved north a few hundred miles to Oskaloosa, Iowa, and were well settled. The census record of 1880 shows Samuel being a laborer and Ann is keeping house. There is no sign of little Mattie, so I think she died. John is 6 years of age and the newest child Elizabeth is 10 months old and was born in Iowa. This means they were in Iowa by July 1879. Since the 1890 records are missing, the next contact with the family of Samuel is in the 1900 census of Harrison Co., MO in the town of Blythedale Village. This time I only find Samuel, born Feb. 1837 age 63 and farming, and his youngest daughter "Lizzie", born July 1879, age 20 years. The 1900 record indicates that Samuel was only married 5 years, but due to the fact that his wife Ann is missing from the records, I suspect this could be an error. That means he has been widowed 5 years, or re-married 5 years ago, or his wife is not staying at home during this time.

My 3gr aunt Julia Ann (MCLAIN) SAMS, b. 25 July 1834, Bedford, Co., PA. Married Abraham SAMS in 1850s. They lived in Iowa, then moved to Caldwell Co., Mo (1870 Census; he was a minister). I received a letter stating that she was living in Cainsville in 1890s. Since Cainsville is on the border between Harrison and Mercer Cos. not certain in which county she may have died. She was not in the 1900 census. I haven´t been able to locate Julia´s grave. Her children were: John b. abt 1860, Samuel b. abt 1862, Theodore b. abt 1865, Minnie b. abt 1867, Henry, b. abt 1868 and Thomas b. abt. 1871. Julia Ann was the daughter of John and Mary (KETRING) MCLAIN. After many years in PA they moved to Decatur Co., IA in 1854. Several of John´s children settled in Cainsville. Samuel MCLAIN married Mary Ann LEACHMAN and half of Cainsville population is derived from them. Mary Jane MCLAIN married James YODER. Elizabeth MCLAIN married John BOWER. George W MCLAIN may haved lived there but not certain. Any information on any of the above is appreciated.

William HALL Sr. was born in Calvert County Maryland in 1804. He married Margaret KING and moved to Greene County Indiana about 1838. Around 1857 he and his family left Indiana and spent about three years in Illinois. William and his children moved to Harrison County about 1860. It is believed Margaret died in Illinois since she is not listed in the 1860 census with William. In 1867, William married Elizabeth ELLIOTT in Harrison County. They had one daughter, Mary HALL. William lived in northeastern Harrison County (Clay and Madison townships) until his death in 1880.

William Sr.'s children that also lived in Harrison County include: William D. HALL, Charles Wesley HALL, and Zachariah Henry HALL.

William D. HALL married Mary A. THOMPSON, the daughter of Washington and Lydia THOMPSON, who also lived in Harrison County. Charles HALL married Sarah Ann BAKER. Zachariah HALL married Sarah C. KETTERS.

William D. HALL, also died in 1880. His wife, Mary, and their children moved to Kansas and eventually settled in Oklahoma after the land rush of 1893. Charles HALL also settled in Oklahoma. Zachariah stayed in Harrison County.

I would like to correspond with anyone researching these surnames.
