Surnames: LOVELL BRADBURY PARKER LILLY WESTFALL
Submitter: Sharron Lovell McCain ([email protected])
Date: 04 Jun 2003

Researching Reuben LOVELL, b. Aug.10,1789 in VA and died July 02,1873 in the Springer area, Harrison Co. MO. He married Elizabeth BRADBURY April 23, 1814 in what was later Harrison Co. MO. She was the daughter of William BRADBURY and was born in 1793 in NC and died Jan. 11, 1878 in the Springer neighborhood of Harrison Co. They had nine children, that I know of, who survived. One of them was William LOVELL, my great grandfather. The family went back to IN for a time because William was born there, and married his first wife there on Jan. 21, 1838 in Jefferson Co. IN. Her name was Hanna LILLY.

WIlliam LOVELL's second wife was Olive Christina PARKER, b. Sept. 03, 1843 in Clark Co., IL and was the daughter of Levi PARKER and Abilou WESTFALL. The 1860 census shows William and Olive Christina (Teana) living in Fulton Co. IL. William and Hanna had five children and William and Olive had five children. They seemed to move around quite a bit until around 1872 when they (William and Olive) seemed to settle in Harrison Co. In the 1880 census, they are listed as residing in Bolton. Since William LOVELL is reported to have been a doctor I am very interested in any information on him and/or his father Reuben LOVELL and the rest of the lineage.

On December 20, 1877 John Wesley MCNELLY (age 31) married Mary Ann HALE (age 21). They had 7 biological children and 1 adopted. Sarah Jane HOBBS was adopted by Mary Ann (HALE) and her husband John W. MCNELLY. Because she was also a twin, they named her Sarah Jane in memory of John's twin sister who died in 1850 at the age of 4.

John W. and Mary Ann left Eagleville on June 3, 1901 with their children Nancy(age 18), Francis (age 13) John Henry (age 11), Charles (age 5), Sarah Jane (14 months) and Henry (5 days). The family arrived in Bentonville, Arkansas. November 8, 1901:

Harry Orville (5/8/1901 9/22/1989) Have info.
Sarah Jane Hobbs (4-16-1900 11/12/1975) Have info.

There are also (2) Nancy MCNELLYs and the list goes on, naming our children after family members is a tradition that runs deep. I just didn't realize how deep. I have to watch middle names and dates very closely. I hope to make a trip to Eagleville this spring or summer to fill in any gaps I am missing.

Another link I hope to find is that between Leander Harvey MCNELLY and William Tecumseh MCNELLY. L.H. McNelly was a Capt. in the Civil War, and was with the Texas Rangers. The physical similarities between L.H. and other MCNELLY men are unbelieveable.

I'm trying to help my father-in-law get information on his family origin. I need information on Gray WILEY from Bethany. In 1920 he was 17. She was also from Bethany. Cora's mother was Lucy BUCK SMITH. I think Cora and Gray had a son together who is now in his late 70s. I really need information to verify this.
