Carnagie; Coffin, Carney, Mills
I have alot of new information since my last post. I found my mother Clara Mable Carney on the 1910 census for Greene Co., Springfield, MO. living with her father William H Carney b.1854 and 2nd wife Rebeca age 54. William must have died shortly after that census because I have pictures of my mother at age 10-11 with the Alexander Carnagie family of Humansville and her listed on the 1920 census for Polk Co, MO with the Carnagies. I found also found on the 1900 census in E. St. Louis, IL, William H. Carney married to Ida Mills in 1900 in Fayette Co., IL. It is said that some of the Mills may have removed to Missouri and that may be how the Carneys ended up in Greene Co although Ida Mills probably died before my mother was aged 2. I would like to locate a death record for William H Carney in Greene Co about 1911-1913. I would also like to know who his second wife Rebeca was. She is believed to be Louisa Baucom who married him in 187? Had children: Christine, Charles E., James T., John, & Mary E., between 1874 & 1888. Lawrence died May 28, 1887, and is buried in wade Chapel Cem., under initials G.L. Carskaddon, wife not buried there, only one son, Lon (? could be John). Widow remarried James Watson, Nov. 5, 1893. Dr. Bob Carskaddon, married Nancy Swadley, daughter of Henry & Mary Swadley, who had a farm near Lawrence in 1870 Census. Robert & Nancy had children: Minnie, James Henry, Synthia & Jackie (twins), Jess, Birtha & George--all born in MO 1874-1889. Son, Franklin David, b. 1880 in Philadelphia, and daughter, Edna, born in Arkansas in 1893. Dr. Bob died in Stroud, Oklahoma Territory, where he was the "government physician", Jan 10, 1901. Census of 1900 has him married to wife, Lydia, b. Kansas, for 10 years. Any information on these families, particularly that of Dr. Bob & Nancy would be most appreciated. Reno
My ancestor Jonathon Reno was stabbed to death in a Springfield brawl in 1838. I have heard that an account was written up in one of the Springfield History books, but which one? Jonathon had moved his family to MO from Schuyler CO IL after the death of his wife Sarah. What happened to their 14 children? Most of them moved to the Springfield area-anyone else doing Reno research?
