Does anyone know about burials of soldiers during the Civil War in Greene County? I'm trying to find the grave of Private Denis Maurath, alias "Davis Murat" who was a cavalryman in Company B, General Fremont's Body Guard. The National Cemetery at Springfield does not have a record of him being buried there. Were soldiers buried in other local cemeteries, or were their bodies shipped back home. His family were German immigrants in St.Louis, and were his only family.

Wilson; Terrell, Anderson
James Anderson Wilson came to Greene County MO with the Delawares in or around 1822. While there he was married to three "squaws" and after living with the spouse for a time would drive her off and seek another. About the time the Delawares left, he drove off the last of the three squaws and married a French lady. After the death of Mr. Wilson, his widow married Dr. C.D. Terrell, the second clerk of the county court. I would like to know the date of death for Mr. Wilson. The name of the wives if possible and the issue of the four marriages. My ancestor, James Anderson Wilson 1799-1890, is the son of Alexander Wilson and Nancy Anderson. The family path if from TN to Greene County to Douglass County to Arkansas.

Kelly; Phillips
My ancestor was Alfred Kelly, a blacksmith born about 1813. I first find him on the 1850 census of Greene Co., Missouri, originally from Tennessee but I don't know where. Alfred moved to Missouri from Tennessee about 1842 based on birthplaces of his children. There is a George Kelly, who is the sheriff in the same town as Alfred in 1850 who may be a brother. Alfred and his wife Milla had 11 children, born between 1836 to 1856. The children's names were Delia, John, Lavina, Robert, Martha, Minerva, Geniva, Mary, Manda, Emily & Elizabeth. Alfred & Milla stayed in Greene County until at least 1880, and probably died there although I don't know when. My line is through Alfred's daughter Delia, who married Annanias Phillips and moved to Lawrence Co., MO by 1860. I think John was the only one of the 2 Kelly boys in the family that lived long enough to marry, and his wife's name was Margaret. They had 6 children that I know of from census records, born between 1859 & 1878 - Milla, Mary, Ellen, Sarah, Charles & Jessie. Would like to connect with others working on these lines.
