Celia died Jan 22, 1940 in Springfield, Mo. Both are buried at Clear
Creek Cemetery. They had 5 children, Eva, Everett, James, Effie, and
Willie(died at birth).

My 2nd g-grandfather John Laney migrated to Pond Creek Twp., Greene Co.
from Greene Co., TN is 1839. He married first Sophia Garoutte, daughter
of Samuel and Jane Reynolds Garoutte. In 1863, he married Elizabeth
Hampton. John raised a very large family in Pond Creek.
John's parent Ephraim and Margaret Millery Laney migrated to Pond Creek
also, as well as many of his siblings.

married Sarah Jane Owen 3 Oct 1872 in MO. She was the dau of James
Addison Owen and Sarah Ann Stewart. George's father was Samuel Jackson b
abt 1810 in Rockingham Co., NC and died in Pinson Station, TN.

Elizabeth Gold(en) b. NC about 1823. I can find no marriage record
for them, but they sold land as man & wife in Greene Co. MO in 1840.
Their children, all born in Greene Co., were Rebecca Jane (m. Charles
Switzer and Charles Drager), Margarete (m. Alex Zellweger), Columbus,
James (m. Etta White), William, Daniel (m. Fannie), Marcellus, and
Florell (m. R.F. Holloway). David and Elizabeth died and are buried in
Springfield. Have not been able to find their route from NC to MO and
would appreciate any leads as to the group they probably moved with and
who their parents and siblings were.

MO, in the early 1840s, with their children. Family legend has
it that George L. Miner (a carpenter and stonemason) died near
Springfield, Aug 1848. Want proof that this is true, and

1st time to Miss Belle Williams. James W. is found again in 1910
when he married Matilda Jane Thornton-Hale. He died in 1914 in
Springfield, Greene Co., and is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Isaac Woods came to Greene County, MO in 1830 from Bledsoe County, TN.
His wife's name was Martha. Several children were born in TN and more in
Greene Co. I cannot trace Isaac beyond Bledsoe County. Isaac was killed
on a trip to AR aroound 1850, Martha predeceased him. All his children
except one moved to what is now Douglas County, MO. The one son, Jesse
A., was a sheriff is Dade County then went west in 1886-1887.

Nathan Slay, his wife Nancy Wells, and children moved to Greene Co., MO, from Searcy Co., AR, in Civil War timeframe. His wife died and he remarried Martha
Ann Snow. Nathan Slay died in Greene Co., MO, in 1864. Both his father
and grandfather, Thomas Slay Sr. and Jr. fought in Rev. War in NC/SC.
Five of Nathan's sons fought for the Union, three died. Daughter Sarah
Melissa married John Arnold. Need to know who daughter Elizabeth married
and well as updated info. on sons: Thomas J., Cornelius C., Levi G.,
George W., William Henry, Benjamin F., Sanford T., and Nathan Jr.

William Charles Fields and Kessiah Jarman. They were in Douglas Co from
about 1860 to about 1875. They were also in Texas, Osage, Wright Co.
Kessiah died in 1871 and William married Amanda Elliott Bowen, after her
death he married Mary Williams in Greene Co. Left her a few years after
they married (never divorced her before he married Cyntha Elliott
Stillwell)Mary divorced him but he never knew. His son John Hartwell
Fields married Mary Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of Thomas Marion Johnson
