Josephine 'Jo' Dunne

It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that Jo Dunne passed away on Saturday August 7, 2010. Jo passed away from lung cancer. She had moved from Springfield, MO to live with her son & daughter-in-law in California for the last several months.

We will all miss her and her great work to keep this site [Stone County, MOGenWeb - ed] the very best and always up to date. She was a dear friend to all of us and a personal best friend to me for the past ten years. She leaves all of us with the great legacy of her tireless work.

Betty Ruth Brooks

Betty Ruth Brooks, 79, of Mexico, died Monday, July 13, 2009. She is being cremated and there will be no services held at this time. Arrangements are under Columbia Cremation Care Center.
=========================================================

It is with a very sad heart that I learn of Betty's death. I have the privilege of working with Betty Brooks for almost nine years on the Callaway County Missouri Journal website, which eventually was moved to the MOGenWeb organization of websites about six years ago. I could not have found a better and more able teacher for the history and genealogy that we have worked on so diligently for so long. Betty's efforts were not simply limited to Callaway County; but were duplicated in Audrain, Montgomery, Saline, Warren and several other Missouri Counties as well as sites in Tennessee and a MOPOC site associated with MOGenWeb. Her efforts in history/genealogy will be long remembered when her name has faded into the past. I will say that it has been an honor and a privilege working with Betty who gave her all for a cause that she strongly believed in. She will be missed.

Wayne Johnson

It was great to know that when I had a problem, Betty was there to help resolve it. About the last time I corresponded with her, she said that while she didn't want to leave us, at least she would be on the other side of those brick walls that genealogists frequently hit and she was going to hunt up her illusive ancestors. She is being missed.

Phyllis Rippee

Betty Brooks was the most generous genealogist in Warren County. She gave so much of herself, you would have thought every family she helped with was her own. Generous with her time, her research, her expertise, she shared so much, and will be truly missed by all.
