William Lee Whitehead
Born: September 26, 1868 Died: May 16, 1949 William Lee Whitehead Funeral Announcement from unknown newspaper: Funeral services for William Lee Whitehead, 80, who died Monday, May 16, were held last Friday afternoon at the Bethany Church, conducted by Rev. Irl R. Richardson. Interment was at the Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Jim White, Joe White, Trig White, Claud White, Bob White and Mart Wood. W. L. Whitehead, the son of James and Adeline Whitehead was born in Texas September 26, 1868, died at his home in North Campbell, May 16, 1949, being 80 years, 7 months and 20 days of age at the time of his death. He was one of 10 children. All preceded him in death except two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Wood of Campbell and Mrs. Mae Vincent of Flint, Mich. His step-mother, Mrs. Nancy Ann Whitehead of Campbell and step-sister, Mrs. Bart Wood of Malden, Mo., also survive him. He lived in Texas about six years, then with his parents moved to Dunklin County, settling north of Campbell on a farm. On August 15, 1891, he was united in marriage to Laura Riddle of Bethany. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive; William Verness Whitehead, of Emmett, Idaho; James Clauster Whitehead and John Earl Whitehead of Campbell, MO. Another son, Luther, died in infancy. He also leaves nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitehead died August 23, 1924. On November 3, 1925, he was married to Mrs. Amanda Bratcher, who survives him, as does a step-son, Walker Bratcher, of Denver, Colorado, and a step-granddaughter, Mrs. Rude Dunscomb of Campbell. |
