Durham, Kenamore, and McSpadden
I am researching Elizabeth McSpadden Durham Kenamore (b. 22 Jan 1842,
Villa Rica, Carroll Co., GA; d. 10 Dec 1920, Salem, Dent Co., MO),
daughter of Green C. McSpadden. She first married Richard V. Durham,
who died in 1862 in northeast Douglas County (reportedly killed by
bushwhackers). She married second (in 1875) the widowed Grant Kenamore.
Elizabeth and Grant Kenamore are buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery in
Salem.
I would like to learn the circumstances of Richard V. Durham’s death.
I am also researching Elizabeth’s two sons. They last appeared on the
1880 census with G. A. Kinnamon [sic] and wife Lizzie [Elizabeth] in
the Spring Creek Township, Enumeration District No. 65, of Dent County.
I haven’t been able to find any other information regarding what became
of them. They were:
Adolphus G. Durham, b. ca. 1858, MO
Emmet Durham, b. ca. 1861, MO

Am trying to determine if Louisa Casey
Laffoon,
nee Tripp, was the daughter of
William Tripp and Zanette
French.
I think she was living in Dent County Missouri in 1929 as her son
Thomas Stephen Laffoon died February 02, 1929 at his home nine miles
northwest of Salem, Missouri and is buried in the Stagner
Cemetery. My Louisa Tripp was born in Iowa in 1855. Her
siblings were Mahala, Jasper, Armont, Mary, Henry and Laura, my
grandmother. The family moved to Missouri and at one time lived
in Butler and Christian Counties. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks.

I am looking for information on my great, great, great grandfather
Rueben Windham (c.1815) and his family who lived in Dent County from
it's inception until around 1930. I have Federal Census info on this
family from 1850 through 1930. They lived in Franklin Township (1850 -
1900), and Sinking Township (1900 -1930). I am looking for ANY local
records that may have survived. Here are the details of the family:
Rueben Windham (b.1815) born in Tennessee, probably the son of William
Rueben Windham (b1764) from Warren and Hawkins Co. Tennessee. Moved to
Franklin, Dent County (then known as Shannon, District 93) probably in
the 1840's. Married Catherine Beard (c.1826) from Kentucky. He is
listed as a farmer in all of the federal census. He died after 1880.
Catherine Beard (b.1826) born in Kentucky, she probably died after
1870. I have no data on her parents. She had 7 children with Rueben
Windham.
Children of Reueben Windham and Catherine Beard (all born in Dent
County):
Elizabeth S. Windham (b. 1845) Have not been able to find any data on
her past 1860. She probably either married or died. The "S" is probably
for Sarah.
John Calvin Windham (1846 - 1925) My great, great grandfather. I have a
lot of data on him after he took the Oregon Trail to Nebraska, and then
to Oregon in the 1880's. Family lore has him as a Confederate soldier,
but I have not been able to prove that.
William Windham (b.1848) No data past 1860.
The remaining four children remained in Dent County (or surrounding
area) until their deaths. I have been able to find death certificates
for Thomas W, and Nancy J. on the Missouri Digital Heritage site.
Thomas W. Windham (1850 - 1927) Remained in Dent County. Never married.
I have his Death Certificate. The "W" is probably for William.
George W. Windham (b.1852) Lived in Dent and Reynold Counties. Married
Nancy Jane Smith (1847 - 1925). They had three children together. Sarah
(b.1847), Budd (b.1879) and Justin (b.1886). I have Nancy Jane's death
certificate, but cannot find George W's. The "W" could be for WIlliam
or Washington.
Nancy J Windham (1843 - 1924) Lived in Dent COunty until her death in
1924. I have her Death Certificate from Digital Heritage. She never
married. The "J" could be for Jane or Julinda.
Amanada J Windham (b.1857) Lived in Dent COunty unril her death after
1930. I cannot find her death cert. She never married. She sometimes
went by the name Mandy. The "J" could be for Jane or Julinda.
Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Scott Windham

Hello,
My boyfriend's great-great grandparents, Tommy and Mary Pearl Young,
owned a farm in Salem but lost it during the Depression. The attached photo is the
farmhouse.
My boyfriend's grandmother (Virginia Pearl Young Fuchs) wants to track
down the whereabouts of her grandparents' old farm but she doesn't know
the address or its whereabouts. Has anyone seen this place?
Is it still standing? Is there someone I can speak with who can
help me locate old tax assessor records so that I can find the exact
address? Is there a Margaret Vickery family still living in
Salem? They knew the Young family, but we have lost track of them since
the deaths of Tommy and Pearl Young. I have another photograph
that I can send if that will help.
Please contact me at [email protected]
. We currently live in Saint Louis. Virginia Fuchs
(granddaughter of Tommy and Pearl Young) is now approximately 77 years
old and is very eager for some more information. If it would
help, I could provide more information regarding the Young family.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give. view farmhouse photo
Best,
Kelly
