Married 1824 in Franklin Co GA.
YORK, WILLIAM 'ASA'
Born 1800 in Georgia, the son of William York. He died after the 1870
census.
YORK, RHODA G. RAMSEY Born 1805 in
Franklin County, Georgia, died after the 1870 census. Daughter of
William Newman Ramsey (1772-1848) and Rhoda McMillion (1775-1843).
They lived in Current Twp. in Dent County. Their children were Irvin, Louisa, Asa, Thomas and Dock 'Lipscomb', all born in Georgia. Five or six members of this pioneer family are buried at this cemetery. Mr. York was bushwhacked at Montauk during the Civil War and is probably buried here; he was the first husband of Lucinda Creasy (York Berry); she is buried at the Berry Cemetery. Lucinda York married John Berry about 1866 in Dent County.
Isabell York married J. Austin Williams in 1883 at John Berry's residence. John H. Berry married Nancy York in 1856 in Dent County; Nancy was a sister of Sarah P. York (b. abt. 1835 in Georgia, who married Robert Ratliff of Texas County in 1857). Davis York married Sarah Sisk and had a daughter, Rhoda Almeda, who married James W. Woodward. Both are buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
