DILWORTH, REBECCA ADKINSON    1805 - 1865.    Wife of Billy Green Dilworth. Three children: Dorothy Dean (m. E. J. Malone) and 2 sons who died in infancy. He married 2) Della M. Moore, Oct. 17, 1910, had twin sons: Col. Billy G., Jr. and one died in infancy.

DILWORTH, MAXINE     Oct. 15, 1904 - Oct. 13, 1983.    Wife of Col. Billy G. Dilworth, Jr. (he is buried at. Prattsville, AL). Mother of Ann Dilworth Rich & Billy G. Dilworth, III. He attended Central Presbyterian Church, Clayton; member Eastern Star & 50 yr member of Women in Communications. (Billy G. Dilworth, Jr. served 2 terms as Dent County Prosecutor & practiced law in Salem, later became Air Force pilot).

DILWORTH, SARAH JANE RAY WALKER     Jul. 15, 1836 - Aug. 1, 1907.    Daughter of James Hamilton Ray & Elizabeth Wallace. Married 1) Irvine Barton Walker, 1859, Dent County (died in Civil War).

 Nov. 9, 1837 - Jan. 9, 1898.    Daughter of John Hiley Walker & Sarah Jane Ray. Melissa was a spy for the Confederate Army during Civil War. She and John had five children: Etta L. (m. John C. East, 1891, Dent County, buried at. Rolla Cemetery), George Robert, Nettie Elnora (m. Thomas S. Welch), Roxa & John Fine, Jr.

Cedar Grove Cemetery) and Elizabeth Langdon Haverstick. Married 2nd Mary Scott on Dec. 21, 1922 at Columbia; one daughter, Lorrayne (m. Buck Tune). He was engaged in automobile business; built South Side Garage & was representative for Chevrolet automobile at Steelville; he was also a plumber.

Jan. 29, 1853 - Feb. 22, 1940.    Son of John Calvin Vaughan & Anna Conley. Children: Robert J., Bert, Mattie (m. 1)___ Beeler, m. 2) C. A. Wallof), George, Anna (m. T. C. Douglass) and Claud C. (d. age 66 Albany, NY). Brother of John, George, Louise and Rhoda. He joined St. James Christian Church at age 15, later joined Salem Christian. Came to MO with parents age 5 by ox team & covered wagon, settled farm 6 miles from Licking & after father was killed, moved to St. James; employee Scotia Iron Works.

WALKER, SGT. JOHN HILEY     Mar. 15, 1791 - Mar. 23, 1859.    Son of Samuel R. (Revolutionary War Soldier) & Mary Walker. Born in Chester County SC. Married 1) Elizabeth Stringer (daughter of Rueben & Elizabeth Stringer, b.1790, Davidson County TN  - Sep.6, 1824, Nashville, TN), married Mar. 19, 1912; Nine children: Samuel F., Felix W., Lytle W., Amelia, Arminda, Amanda, John L. - all died young, Derinda (m. Alfred Dill of Henderson County, TN), Elizabeth (1823 - 1903, Maconkin, IL, m. ___ Ross) & John, died in infancy. Married 2nd Sarah Jane Ray on Jul. 28, 1825 (b. abt 1811 Orange County, NC, the daughter of Robert & Margaret Ray); they had 12 children: Irvin B., Margaret (Aug. 17, 1829 - Dec. 20, 1835), Mary (Sep.21, 1831 - 1855), James G. (Dec. 29, 1833 - Jan. 23, 1841), Elias Dixon (died in infancy on Dec. 1, 1835  in TN), Melissa C. (m. John 'Fine' McCrea), William Robert (Captain in Civil War, b. Dec. 3, 1839, died in 1863), Jessie R. (Dec. 11, 1844 - Mar. 23, 1853), Robert B., George A. (Jan. 21, 1849 MO - 1878), & Joseph S. (May 31, 1853 - Sep.7, 1862). John Hiley was a veteran of the War of 1812, Grother's County 2nd Tenn, Mil. He came to Dent County abt 1846 along with James H. Ray family.

WALKER, IRVIN BARTON 'BART'     Mar. 25, 1827 - Jan. 12, 1865.    Son of John Hiley & Sarah Jane Ray. Born in Nashville, Davidson Co TN; died at Jefferson Barracks in St Louis during Civil War. (After his sister Melissa learned of his death and burial in Jefferson Barracks, she took a buckboard from Salem to Rolla and then traveled by train to St. Louis and had her brother disinterred and brought him home to rest in the family cemetery all by herself. Bart married Sarah Jane Ray (his 1st cousin) on Feb. 24, 1859, Dent County. Children: J. Hiley and Irvin B. Sarah Jane Walker Ray later married James Dilworth. Bart was a veteran of the Civil War Co __ 48 MO Inf.

WALKER, JOHN HILEY
    Jun. Jun. 1860 - Oct. 26, 1937.    Son of Irvin B. Walker & Sarah Ray Walker Dilworth. John 'Hiley' was a blind man who made brooms in Salem starting in 1887. He was the oldest member of Salem First Baptist Church at time of death, over 65 yrs.

     Feb. 7, 1859 - Jul. 22, 1952.    Daughter of S. A. & S. E. Barker. Born in Odessa, Missouri; died at the St. James Soldier's Home. She joined Christian Church, and then Salem First Baptist in Aug., 1914. Children: a daughter who died in infancy, Irvin, (Jul. 30, 1888 - Mar. 2, 1889), John Lee, Roy M. (Jun. 20, 1890 - Feb. 25, 1968 El Paso, TX) Wilber Ray (Mar. 24, 1892), Clarence Morris (Mar. 5, 1899 - Jul. 6, 1918 Alsaace, France, WWI, buried Jul. 19, 1921), Charles O. (Sep.5, 1901 - Jun. 23, 1971), Thelma and May  M. ( Jan. 8, 1897  - Apr. 7, 1947, m. 1) J. Clyde McGee, m. 2) ___ Ryan, lived Gillette, WY).

WALKER, PVT. CLARENCE MORRIS     Mar. 5, 1899 - Jul. 6, 1918.    Son of John 'Hiley' Walker & Irene 'Jennie' Barker. Killed in Alsace France, WWI. Co. H 139 Inf. 35 Div. USAAEF. His body brought home Jul. 19, 1921. Walker - Roney American Legion Post was named for Clarence M. Walker & Morris Roney.

WALKER, JOHN LEE     Jun. 10, 1894 - Sep.9, 1923.    Son of John 'Hiley' Walker & Irene 'Jennie' Barker. Died at El Paso, TX in a railroad accident, El Paso & Southwestern RR, Married Hattie Hinch (d. Dec. 30, 1967 St. Louis, the daughter of George Hinch & Maude White). He lived in Lebanon, was an employee of the telephone office. Moved to El Paso in Jun., 1922.

WALKER, WILBER RAY     Mar. 24, 1892 - Oct. 13, 1934.    Son of John 'Hiley' Walker & Irene 'Jennie' Barker. Married Wilma Smith; she later married Holbert  Warfel and then Ernest Warfel. she is buried at. Cedar Grove Cemetery. Wilber & Wilma had 5 children: Jack, Pfc Herbert L. (d. U. S. Air Force, France, buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery), Genevieve Dischbein Gabel, Helen Moore, Evelyn Glenn and Shirley Litty. 'Pvt. 116 Sup. Tn 41 Div. WWI. He was a member of the Salem American Legion Walker - Roney Post;  constable of Spring Creek, Twp, and Dent County Deputy Sheriff at time of death.

WALKER, JACK     Nov. 30, 1922 - Jan. 7, 1929.    Son of Wilber R. Walker & Wilma Smith. Died of pneumonia.

WALKER, CHARLES O.     Sep.5, 1901 - Jun. 23, 1971.    Son of John 'Hiley' Walker & Irene 'Jennie' Barker. Two daughters: Jo Ann Carr & Charlene Stewert. US Navy, WWII. He was a member of Salem Masons. Lived in TX & OK, returning to Salem abt. 1956.

HUSBAND & WIFE:  Married 1891 Dent County.
WALKER, IRVIN BARTON     Mar. 9, 1865 - Mar. 11, 1944.    Son of Irvin Barton & Sarah Jane Ray. He was a school teacher at Salem schools, and a Mason. Married 2nd Jessie Leach in El Paso, TX abt. 1898; both were Christian Scientists (she was first reader and he 2nd reader in church). He was cremated.

Mar. 21, 1900 - Jan., 1917, diptheria), Margueritta (Sep.2, 1902 - 1961, Maryland Heights, MO, m. William George Bright), George William 'Bill' (Sep.29, 1904 - Oct. 20, 1985, m. Lillian Virginia 'Tot' Fair, Jan. 1, 1929, both buried at. Sunset Cemetery, Manhattan, KS, U.S. Army 13th Calvary Machine Gun Troop), Clide (Jul. 6, 1906 - Jul. 7, 1906, buried at. WELCH, WILLIAM 'BILL' HERBERT     Jan. 19, 1877 - Sep.29, 1938.    Son of Thomas J. Welch & Mary Davis (buried at. Round Pond Cemetery). He attended OK A. & M. College, Stillwater, OK, taught rural schools, Dent County; active in Democrat Politics, served as Dent County Circuit Clerk many years; cashier, Dent County Savings Bank 1908, later asst. cashier, Salem First National; member Salem Masons & Eastern Star; Scottish Rite & Shriners.
WELCH, ABBIE DILWORTH    
May 7, 1877 - Mar. 2, 1911.    Daughter of James Dilworth & Sarah J. Ray. She was elected Dent County school commissioner. Children: a daughter who died in infancy and Will H. 'Billy'. Married Allie Burton Jun. 23, 1912, Norborne, MO.

WELCH, ALLIE BURTON    Jan. 19, 1876 - Nov. 26, 1955.    Daughter of Speed Burton & Celestia Cox. Second wife of William H. Welch, married Jun. 23, 1912, Norborne, MO. She served as Salem City Collector 7 yrs.; member Salem First Christian & Salem Eastern Star.

WHITE, WILLIAM FREDERICK 'FRED'      Apr. 5, 1887 - Sep. 26, 1962.    Son of Samuel White & Rachel Nace. Born in Phoenixville, PA.  Brother of J. M. 'Buck' (1890 - Oct. 28, 1931, Lebanon, m. Lissie Keller of Lebanon), Wayne S., Kate (m. 1) ___ Sprague, m. 2) ___ Coon) and Maude Hinch. Worked for the railroad, Express Messenger service since age 17, 1st job was on Salem Branch of Frisco RR. The White family moved to MO from PA 1881.

Oct. 15, 1887 - Jul. 21, 1922.    Daughter of James W. W. Reddick & Mary Dilworth. One daughter, Maud Marie (m. Edward Gerstacher).

WOODWARD, LEVI     No dates.    Married 1st in Indiana. Father of Lucinda Chastain. Married 2) Lydia A. Miser 1888, Dent County. Married 3) Julia Deforest, 1890, Dent County (by J. A. Cannon, J. P.). Came to Dent County from Sullivan, Indiana.
