SIMMS PLOT
Located on a knoll south of the old Young homestead in Dry Valley Community, which is 5 miles east of Salem.
This farm is more recently owned by Robert Land.The Simms' originally settled
this farm which later became known as the Young farm where the old Young
one room school was located. To the north about a quarter of mile is the
old chimney of original house of Simms

JOHNSON, NANCY J. No dates. Sandstone marker has 'In Memory of Nancy Johnson.'
SIMMS, JACKSON Only date, born about 1814 in Missouri. The original landowner of this property. Married Luvina 'Vine' Cummins Apr. 17, 1834 in Washington County; (she is buried at Cummins Plot near Metham School). Children: James; Preston; Bartlet 'Bart' (buried at Fresno CA, m. Melvina Hagler, 1867, Dent Co.); Martin; Lucretia J. (buried at Cedar Grove Cem., m. Thomas J. Hagler); daughter 'S'; daughter 'E.' and son 'E'.
Simms' negro slaves are buried east of these graves across a small ravine: a negro man, woman, and three children and possibly others.
