4 MILES NW OF SALEM, DENT CO.
This farm is presently owned by the Dalrymple Family.
The Cemetery, not
maintained, is enclosed by rock wall. During the Civil
War the S.I.K.
Barksdale home was burned by bushwhacker. Uncle Ned
(Negro) lived in
Barksdale home. S.I.K. had a store on the farm at one
time

1811 - Nov. 18, 1884. Born in Tennessee; died in Dent County,
Missouri.
BARKSDALE, SIKIA 'STEPHEN' I. K.
May 3, 1812 – May 30, 1878. Born in Tennessee; died in Shannon
County, Missouri. Son of William Barksdale & Sarah Smith Barksdale. Of English
descent. Married Sarah Waller. Had nine children, six of whom grew to maturity.
William; Henry (d. 1861 Civil War at Neosho, MO); Waller (1845 – 1862,
Pine Bluff, Ark. In Confederate service, typhoid fever, single); John & James
(d. infancy, both buried Miller Cemetery; Mary V. (m. John M. Daugherty), Celina
and Sarah Holman, inf. son; S.I.K. had sisters, Nancy (Mrs. William Holman) &
Sue Bolding; from TN to Dent ., Linn Township, 1839---home was burned by
bushwhackers during Civil War; had store here at one time; owner of black slave
'Uncle Ned.'

1836 - Feb. 23, 1910. Born in Tennessee. Married Mary Ellen
Daugherty at Dent County, Missouri. Children: Sikia 'Duck' (m. Sylvia M. Well,
buried Cedar Grove Cemetery); Isaac 'Ike' (m. Mary Harrison, 1889, Reynolds Co.
by Rev. M.M. Adams {divorced} Ike to Phoenix AZ); John (m. Mary Priest, 1893,
Dent Co., to MT, m. again); Sarah S. 'Dink' (m. George S. Halbrook)---buried
Halbrook Cemetery; Selina 'Linn' Jane (m. B. Frank Halbrook)—buried Cedar Grove
Cemetery; Parsina 'Sina' I. (buried OK, m. Colombus S. Miner, 1888, Dent Co.,);
Mary E. inf.; William 2nd m. Rebecca (Mrs. Samuel Dinwiddle) nee Patton. William
Was in Confederate Army in Civil War & owned site of Alley Spring in Shannon
Co., at one time.

28, 1841 - Jan. 18, 1875. Born in Tennessee. Daughter of
Zachariah (Surkiah) & Sally McDonald Daugherty.
BARKSDALE, MARY E. Jan. 2, 1875 - Aug. 28, 1878. Youngest daughter of William Barksdale & Mary E. Daugherty Barksdale.
BUTLER, Infant Child of Ben Butler & Etta Daugherty.
CARTY, Infant Child of John Carty & Etta Daugherty.

Butler); John held public office in Shannon Co. (Zachariah d. 8/10/1861,
Battle of Wilson’s Creek, Civil War)

HOLMAN, HARVEY WOODS
Oct. 6, 1855 - Jan. 8, 1944. Son of William
Holman & Zelia Ann Woods.
HOLMAN, CELINA BARKSDALE
Aug. 29, 1851 - Oct. 9, 1899. Daughter of S.I.K.
Barksdale & Sarah Waller. Three children: Constance 'Connie' & Anvil
Herbert (both buried Cedar Grove Cemetery) & Zelia (Mrs. Raymond E.
George)—to Casper WY; m. 2nd Sarah Barksdale, 7/31/1901; bro. To: Thomas
Hill Holman, John Barksdale Holman, Martha Pinchbeck Holman, Sarah,
America (m. Albert McMurtrey), William T. (m. Levicia Harrison), Stephen
(m. Julia Woods), Mary Lee (m. Lee Pemberton), Elizabeth (m. Quentin
Imboden), James Perry (m. Betty McSwain): to near Caledonia Washington
Co. as child, attended Belleview Collegiate Institute-Caledonia; spent
57 yrs. same farm
HOLMAN, SARAH May 3, 1849 - Feb. 24, 1930. Daughter of S.I.K. Barksdale & Sarah Waller. Second wife of Harvey Woods Holman. She reared Celina’s children & lived on the Barksdale homeplace later known as the Holman farm.
