I am working on the STRETCH and SCOTT families of Daviess County, Mo. Most settled in the Madeline Community (Scotland Church area). My research goes back to a Thomas and Jane Stretch. Ther children were George, Pheobe, William, Jane, Hannah and Susan. Hannah married Alexander Scott.

Looking for information and descendants of Thomas KNIGHT and his wife Elizabeth (Marchbanks or Bartlett?). This family appears on the 1870 Census of Daviess Co., MO. According to census records, Thomas KNIGHT was born in OH and Elizabeth was born in TN. They migrated to Daviess Co. from Appanoose Co., IA. I am looking for any information known about William LEWIS b: 5/18/1828 Clay Co., Kentucky m: Caroline COOK. William died 5/11/1902 in Daviess County. I am trying to determine if they had any children, what the names may be, and any information that might be available. Also, any information regarding Caroline would be helpful. I am looking for the ancestors of Bertha DILLON who was married in Gallatine, MO 12 Feb 1889. She was married at her families home to my grandfather, George Burkill Adams. Bertha was the dau of Henry and Emmaline (Galpin) Dillon. Although the Galpin family is well documented, I am looking to connect Henry Dillon with his ancestors.

Hi! My name is Barbara Hulett Gash and I am just getting started at looking up my families history. I have a lot of old photo's and notes from my mother and grandmother who have both passed away years ago. My family is from the Pattonsburg and Coffey area of Daviess County Missouri. I am really unsure how to start all this, but I can give you some names of my family and can also send you birth and death dates later. Below are some of the names I am interested in researching. My parents: Kenneth Edgar HULETT - 74 years old; Juanita Lois SEVERE - born July 10, 1924 now deceased. My grandparents: George Chester HULETT , Dorothy Mae CARTER, John Edmund SEVERE, Opal Lois WEST. Great Grandparents: Ernest William WEST, Iva Alice FOSTER. There are a lot of other names and dates I have going far back but they are at home, unorganized. I am looking for the names HULETT, SEVERE, CARTER, WEST, FOSTER, PRINDLE, HOOVER, I am particularly interested in the history of my Greatgrandmother Iva Alice FOSTER WESt, she had a grandparent who was Indian from what I am told her name is Naomi BUNYARD. I am looking for the birthplace and birthdate of my paternal grandfather, C. William COPE, born possibly in Daviess County, Missouri on May 11, 1888 or 1884. His father was George Cope, of Missouri, and his mother was Mary Reiley Cope. I have information that there was a George Cope who was married to a Tabitha Ann Higgins living in Daviess County in 1860. They had a son named George Cope, born in 1858. This could be my great grandfather, but I need more information in order to tie this George to C. William Cope. The only additional information that I have is that C. William did have a brother named George Cope, as well. Any information that you could provide would be deeply appreciated.

Can anyone help me with the BRIGMANS who lived in Daviess County,Missouri in or around 1850. I am especially looking for Asa or Asey. He is listed in the 1850 census at the age of 55 along with two daughters, Susan age 23 and Maria age 17. Also Nathan or N.K. Brigman also listed in this census. All born North Carolina.... N.K. is my Great Grandfather and Asey is his uncle. Any help would be appreciated N.K. returned to NC but Asey stayed in Missouri.

I am looking for information on Daniel BROWN and his wife, Hannah MERRIFIELD (my greatgrandfather and greatgrandmother). They had two children, James W. Brown and Kathryn Brown. Daniel was born 2/12/1850, lived near Gallatin and died about 1886 (no information on burial site). Hannah was born about 1851, died in 1886 and was buried in Union Grove Cemetery East of Coffee (I have seen her grave marker). They both died when my grandfather, James W., was a small child and we have almost no information on them. Any information on either Daniel or the Merrifield's would be appreciated.

I am interested in any info on Lucy and Charles Y. ESTES. Lived in Daviess Co. Mo. March 10, 1857. Before that they lived in Randolph Co. Mo. 1843. Her maiden name was Lawrence. The copy of the letter I have states that she had 200 acres of land some work cattle, milk cows, and one good young mare. It said if you want to write her, address your letter to Sullivan Co. Gallatin Post Office. but she lived in Daviess Co. Mo. This was a letter written by her brother John LAWRENCE to his two sisters in IL.

Hi, I'm trying to locate a four obituary's they are all from Daviess Cty, Gallatin Twsp: There are two newspapers from that town the Gallatin North Misourian and the Gallatin Democrat Newspapers. 1. Dauphin STAPP D:2/24/1876 and wife Mary Polly (TOMPKINS) Stapp D: 11/8/1881. 2. William CASTOR D: 5/7/1873 and Wife Mary Ann (Hudson) Castor D: 9/10/1882. I will do lookups in Colorado if needed. I'm having a hard time getting an interlibrary loan on these films. Any help on this would be great.
