7.  John Price STRICKLAND

Nerver married. Was a Texas Ranger and then joined up with outlaws. He rode with Jesse James and the Younger brothers, shot a man, was caught and jailed in Weatherford, TX.  To escape, he built a fire in his cell.  A horse was waiting for him and his escape was succesfull.  Before he returned to Indian Territory, he visited with with his  brothers (James Henry in Gibtown, TX.  and Daniel in Agnes, TX.)  He also rode with Henry Starr, leader of Oklahoma outlaws.  John Price Strickland was killed by outlaws over money.  His brother, James Henry Strickland was also a Texas Ranger.  He went to Indian Territory to retrieve his brothers body, but was told to leave that night or be killed also.
