Matheis Cemetery, Cole County, Missouri

John Simpson ENLOE founded this cemetery when his wife Matilda passed away. The second to be buried here was John and Matilda's single daughter Nancy, just 5.5 months after her mother passed away.

The MATHEIS Cemetery used to be known as the "Little ENLOE Cemetery", but when John Simpson ENLOE sold the farm to the MATHEIS', the name eventually changed to the MATHEIS Cemetery. It is located in the pasture down from the MATHEIS' home. It's enclosed in a fence and is extremely overgrown. I only saw one MATHEIS gravestone there, all the rest are ENLOE's and their descendents.

Located off the intersection of Rt A (13900-13800 blk) and S. Payne Road (9200 blk). The exact address is 9103 Payne, Box 174 Russellville, MO.

From Russellville take Rt AA to Rt A and turn right (west) and continue to Payne Road. Turn right on Payne Rd. and go to the second house on the right. You pass the home of C.H. Matheis, go through the gate and you will see a fenced-in area up on a bluff - this is the cemetery.
