1.3 -Jacob Mock
From St Clair's Bedford Vol. 5 - 1985-86
Jacob Mock, carpenter, son of _______Mock & "not known", born "not known than is US", died 07 Mar 1853 in St. Clair Twp. of disease of the heart, age 78 yrs & 11 months. Buried at Horns Meeting House, St. Clair Twp. Spouse, Elizabeth. Certificate returned by Henry B. Mock, a son, of St. Clair Twp.
Probate Petition of George Corl, Adm. estate of Jacob Mock filed 8 Sep 1853, Bedford Co. PA Court, lists widow Elizabeth, Children: John of Cumberland Valley, Sarah Cooper of Waysborro, Franklin Co; Susana Calahan of Cambria Co; Peters children of Iowa; George of St. Clair Twp; Elizabeth Calihan of Johnstown; Catherine Wonders of Bedford, Eve Edward of Cambria Co; Hester Jacobs of Ohio; Mary Clark of Illinois; Hannah Whitman of Illinois, Isaac of Bedford Co. and Joseph of Bedford Co.

Paul is not listed in this petition because he died previously without issue. Bedford Co. Wills VIII - p199 probated 27 July 1841. Mentions nieces - Rachael, Sarah, Elizabeth and Isabel, children of Thomas Calihan: my father Jacob; nephew Paul Mock, son of John; brother George: and also several members of his deceased wifes family. He refers to his brothers and sister and to his half brothers and half sister. (thus proving Jacob was indeed married twice. (See brief of Pauls Will below)

The most telling data in the Bedford Co. Orphans court records. Peter Mocks will names 8 children of Jacob--Jacob applies for guardianship of the estate left by their grandfather to six of these children. Were the others no longer minors?
Book 3 p 308; dated 7 Nov 1820 -- that of the children of Jacob entitled to a certain portion of estate of Peter Mock 4 of said children were minors under the age of 14 -- these were George Mock, Peter Mock, Elizabeth Mock and Catherine Mock.
Book 3 pg. 222 -- As above except for Jacob (think you mean John) and Paul Mock who were minors above the age of 14.
Above two references are in Bedford Co., PA Orphans Court.

I am not a descendent of this Jacob Mock, but in trying to prove that Elizabeth Mock Beisel was his daughter, I acquired the above information--which in my opinion disproves any relationship between the two.
