HAROLD J. POWELL, 83, Harrisonville, died April 17, 1993. Sevices will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Dickey Chapel, Garden City, MO; burial in the Garden City Cemetery. Mr. Powell was born near Osceolia, MO, and moved to Harrisonville in 1925. He was a radio and television technician gor Bill Gray's Furniture and Hardware in Pleasant Hill in Case County before he retired. He attended the East Lynee Community Church. Survivors include his wife, Lone Powell of the homer; two sons, James D. Powell, Garden City, and Leslie H. Powell, Harrisonville, three daughters, Peggy E. Bachman, Lee Summit, Lorrine M. Taylor and Sharon K. Gator was orginally from Cocoa, Florida and later moved to the Kansas City area in 1976. He was amechanic for TWA for 32 years. His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Frankie S. Powell, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Brain G. and Denise Powell and their children, Ben, Sarah, and Mary; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Daniel Parrishand their children, Becky and Brain; daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and David Hobbs and their son, Jacob Powell Hobbs; and one sister, Mary Powell Clark, He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Claude Powell. Gator, we miss you, we love you, and know that we'll see you one day. Cremation. Private family services will be held at a later date.

WILLIAM E. POWELL, a well known sports figure here, died Wednesday at St. Lukes Hospital. Mr. Powell of Blue Springs was 63 years old. He was born in Peoria,IL, and had lived here most of his life. Mr. Powell was the former owner of the Bill Powell's sport shop on the Country Club Plaza. He had been associated the Barco Office Equipment Company for the last 16 years. A graduate of Westport High School, Powell lettered in his junior and senior years in football, basketball and track. He was a member of the relay team that set interscholastic records in the 880 and 440 yard relay events in Manhattan, KS, the same afternoon. He attended the University of Kansas and lettered in track there. Powell then joined the staff of A. G. Spalding Brothers and Handled professional golf equipment for 10 years. He coached the Rockhurst Colege basketball team from 1945-1947. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Gertrude S. Powell, of the home, a son, William D. Powell, 12100 W. 92nd, Lenexa, KS; his mother, Mrs. Theodosia P. Smith, Blue Springs, MO and two grandsons. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Stine and McClure Chapel; Burial in Forest Hil Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the chapel.

Mr. Powell was a mechanic, last employed by Weld Wheel Manufactouring. He leaves a daughter, Sabrina Powell, Lee's Summit; a brother, Tim Powell, Kansas City; three sisters, Mrs. Shawn Allen, Independence, MO, Mrs. Joyce Stultz and Mrs. Julie Hall of Blue Springs; and his materinal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bertrand Smith, Kansas City, MO. He worked for the Johnson County Highway Department for 16 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of the church. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Powell of the home; three daughters, Bobby May, Gardner, Peggy Butler, Taft, Calif., and Connie Hodo, Ottawa, KS; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY T. POWELL, 89, died Nov 14, 1993 in the Kingswood Manor Health Center where she lived. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kingswood Manor, cremation with burial in the National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth. The family suggests contributions to the Wesley Fund at the Kinswood Manor. Mrs. Powell was born in Aurora, IL, and moved to this area 65 years ag o. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Kansas City. She was a member of the Chapter FQ of the PEO Sisterhood. Her husband, George Robert Powell, died in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Merijean Sprinkle, Kansas City and Lu Anne Neely, Wichita; a brother, Lucius Thomas, Aurora; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

IRENE H. POWELL, 89, Champaign, IL, formerly of Kansas City, KS, died Dec 30, 1993, at a nursing home in Champaign. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mrs. Powell was born in New Bedford, MA and lived in Kansas City, KS from 1935 until moving to Champaign in 1980. She was a former member of the blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Her husband, Lambert Powell, died in 1979.
Survivors include three sons, Leo F. Powell, Blairstown, NJ, David Powell, Champaign and Barnard Powell, San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Dorothy M. Smith, Kansas City; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grand children.

Mr. Powell was born July 17, 1907 in Powhattan, KS. He was a meat cutter/gtocer in Topeka for over 50 years. He owned and operated East Lawn Market from 1946-1963. From 1943-1946, he worked at Hercules Power Company. A past president of the Topeka Food Dealers Assn., Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Siloam Lodge #225, Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine, Beulah Chapter OES #34, Highland Park and East Topeka Methodist Churches. He married Ruth Lucile Harrington on September 24, 1932. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lucile Harrington on November 4, 1984. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Millie and Bill Zirger, Lenexa, KS and Marvie and Larry Sneegas, Leneax, KS: grandchildren and spouses, Liz and John Hochscheid of Overland Park, KS, Elisa and Brian Berg, Fairway, KS, Brendan and Kristi Sneegas, Merriam, KS, Alison and Dave Borberg, Fairway, KS; great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Kati Sneegas, Jack and Cassie Berg; and his companion, Maxine Dark, Lecoompton, KS.

He was a member of the Eden Heights congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. DOUGLAS E. POWELL, 28, of 8314 Sagamore Road, Leawood, KS, died Tuesday at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He was born in Kansas City and had lived in Leawood most of his life. Mr. Powell was a quality-control inspector and laboratory assistant for Mid-America Aerospace Inc. Previously he had managed several area convenience stores. He was a member of the Swope Park Baptist Church. He was a 1974 graduate of Wentworth Military Acedemy, Lexington, MO, where he was a member of the varsity soccer and karate teams, and was a member of it's honor society for two years. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and was an Eagle Scout. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Ellie Powell of the home; a brother, Randy Powell, Elm Springs, Ark.; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Clara Kerr, Kansas City. Powell owned and operated the Powell Transfer company, 1618 Central, Kansas City, KS, from 1924 until he became ill last December. He was a Mason. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Kathryn E. Powell, and a son, Charles A. Powell, both of the home, and five sisters, Mrs. A. H. Strickland, 2321 Tauromee, Kansas City, KS, Miss May Powell and Mrs. E. M. THOMAS W. POWELL, 65, of 718 Walnut St., Liberty, MO, died Wednesday at Trinty Luthern Hospital. He was a lifelong resident. Mr. Powell was a supervisor for the Gas Service Co. before he retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member and deacon of the Liberty Christian Church and a member of the Liberty Odd Fellows Lodge. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Eudora Powell of the home; a brother, Harry Powell, Plattsburg, MO; and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Bogart, Holt in Clay County. GEORGE R. POWELL, 79, of 616 E. 89th Terrace, former vice principal of Southeast and Southwest high schools, died Sunday at the home. Mr. Powell was vice principal of Southeast High School 27 years before he retired in 1969 and earlier was vice principal of Southwest High School from 1936 to 1942. He taught math, bookkeeping and biology at Westport High School from 1924 and 1936 and was a math instructor at the Pembroke-Country Day School from 1928 to 1932.
He received a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Illinois and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Beta Theta Pi Fraternities. Mr. Powell was a deacon at the Calvary Baptist Church, 3921 Baltimore, and taught Sunday School there from 1924 to 1964. He was an associate of the Second Presbyterian Church and a director of the Keewaydin Boys Camp in Vermont from 1929 to 1936. He was a mason. He was born in Canton, IL, and had lived here since 1924.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Dorothy T. Powell of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Merijean Sprinkle, Kansas City, and Mrs. Lu Anne Neely, Wichita; a brother, Chester R. Powell, Carmel, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bradt, Evanston, IL and Mrs. Betty Miller, Canton, IL; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Porte Cimi Pas, former owner of Zephr Priducts Inc., who died Thursday as a result of head injuries received when he was attacked near his home, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Newcomer Brush Creek Chapel; cremation. Mr. Powell founded the company in 1946 and operated it until he retired in 1976. He was graduated from the University of Kansas in 1928. He was an honorary director at Rockhurst College and was a member of the Independence Public Accountants Association of Missouri and Kansas.

The Rev. LEROY POWELL Sr., 59, of 3433 N 33rd St., Kansas City, KS, director of housing counseling for the Metropolitian Lutheran Ministry, died Thursday at Providence-St. Margaret Health Center.
Mr. Powell had been with the Lutheran Ministry six years and was instrumental in developing a program to help families threatened with the foreclosure of their homes work out financial problems. Aministry spokesman said Mr. Powell has been offered a position with the Department of Housing and Urban Development recently but had decline the offer.
Mr. Powell earlier was director of Northeast Coordination and Development, Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Western Bible College. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quindaro. He was a lifelong Kansas City, KS resident.
He leaves his wife, Mrs, Irma Powell of the home; two sons, Leroy Powell of the home, and Jeffrey Powell, Kansas City, KS; a daughter, Mrs. Janice Roland, Kansas City; a brother, Robert Powell, Washington; two sisiters, Mrs. Mary Esther Ayers, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Shirley B. Gamble, Kansas City; and two grandchildren.
