Gibson, 62 years of age, died at his home on the Gibson homestead, five miles northeast of Harrisonville, where he had resided since boyhood, on Wednesday morning, July 26, 1922. Mr. Gibson’s death followed several months of illness, and came as a relief to several weeks of intense suffering. His illness was due to creeping paralysis and a malignant growth that toward the last was responsible for his suffering. The funeral services were held at the home this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 o’clock by the Rev. King Stark, pastor of the Richmond, Mo., Christian Church. Burial was made in the Lee’s Summit Cemetery. Mr. Gibson was born in Kansas City, MO. in 1860. They house, where he was born, stood near where the later day Kansas City workhouse was built. His mother, Constantia Fowler, a native of Clay County, Missouri, was reared on a farm, where much of Kansas City now stands. Mr. Gibson had often heard his mother related how in her girlhood one of her duties was to bring the cows home from the commons, where they were grazing on the present site of the Kansas City Stock Yards. Mr. Gibson’s father was a native of the State of Alabama, but came with his paents to Missouri in an early date and located in that portion now known as Platte county. Later, the entire family removed to Texas, but the father of Young F. Gibson returned to Missouri, where he was married, and was residing in Jackson county in 1864, at the time of his death. There were only two children born to Mr. and Mrs. Gibson – Young F. and Robert L. Gibson. The mother, with these two sons, the former 7 years old and the latter 4 years of age, moved in 1867 to Cass county, buying the farm which the family has occupied all these years. The mother died November 13, 1895. Young and Robert Gibson were married to sisters in a double-wedding ceremony on November 30, 1893. Young F. Gibson was married to Mary Virginia Bradley and Robert L. Gibson to Kittie Bradley, daughters of Arch Bradley of near Cleveland, this county. The first death in this family quartette was that of Mrs. Young F. Gibson, on June 24, 1903. Robert L. Gibson’s death occurred March 14, 1911. Mrs. Robert Gibson died about a year ago. There are surviving now, as the only members of the family, Misses Constantia and Archer B. Gibson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Young F. Gibson. ********************************************* USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
