Mother of J. H. Gray was May 25 at her Daughter's home at Pleasant Hill. Mrs. Julia Gray, who now resides with her daughter, Mrs. Nona Schrest at Pleasant Hill, celebrated her 90th birthday on May 25 of this year. Only recently has The Missourian been able to obtain a picture of this grand old Cass County lady, hence the delay in reporting. Mrs. Gray was born May 25, 1856 in Roane County, Tennessee and came to Cass County in March 1885, and with the exception of a very few years spent back in Tennessee she has lived in and around Harrisonville since. Her husband Patrick H. Gray died here in June 1928 and they had been married 50 years lacking one month at the time of his death. They were the parents of eight children, two of whom died in childhood. The others are: Mrs. Retta Moody, Edgerton, Ks.; Mrs. Schrest of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Martha Beeler, Powell, Tn.; Fred Gray, Drexel, J. H. Gray, Harrisonville, and Mrs. Kathie Dilbeck, Fort Branch, Ind. She is especially proud of her two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gray is in fair health and is up and around. On her birthday only a small gathering of relatives came to spend the day and since her other children have come to visit with her. Mrs. Gray was the second eldest child in a big family and she has a living brother, Milton Chamberlain and a sister, Amanda Taylor, who were the babies of the family. The Missourian extends best wishes to Mrs. Gray for continued good health for the years to come." **Note:Julia died 26 April 1952 and is buried at Harrisonville Orient Cemetery next to her husband Patrick Henry Gray. ******************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
