She purchased property with JOHN EDWARDS,who had been elected the first U.S. Senator from Kentucky. PERCILLER JOHNSON had two children who were mentioned in JOHN EDWARDS' will as having been raised as his own. QRYTEXT: Searching for any information on JOHN EDWARDS who came to Cape Girardeau in the very early 1800s from Bourbon County, Kentucky. He was the first U.S. Senator from Kentucky having arrived there about 1781 from Virginia. In Cape Girardeau he kept company with PERCILLER [PRISCILLA?]JOHNSON. In his 1837 will he left property to PRISCILLA and her two children whom "he raised as his own." He probably never married Priscilla as he had a wife in Kentucky. Both he and Priscilla owned property together. Family lore says that he sent the children to Iowa and set them up in businesses. Who were these children? What happened to Priscilla? Did she marry? Is Edwards' burial site known? I have a great deal of information on the Edwards line to share with his descendants. Will answer all responses.

QRYTEXT: I am searching for the ancestry of my g-g grandfather, Harrison HATCHER who was born 8 November 1801 in Tennessee (location unknown). My first record of him is of 25 February 1830 when he married Catherine HIGGINS (daughter of John and Elizabeth BLACK HIGGINS) in Cape Girardeau Co., MO. Harrison and Catherine HIGGINS HATCHER lived in Apple Creek Twp., Cape Girardeau Co., MO, and there is where Harrison HATCHER died on 10 February 1851. Rebecca HIGGINS, an older sister of Catherine HIGGINS, married William HATCHER, born about 1792. They, too, lived in Apple Creek Twp., Cape Girardeau Co., MO. William HATCHER died there about February 1850. William HATCHER was the administrator of the Estate of his father-in-law, John HIGGINS, who died in 1840. Our first record of William HATCHER is through the 1830 US Census Index of Cape Girardeau Co., MO. The information that I am attempting to gain is: 1. Where was Harrison HATCHER born in Tennessee, and who were his parents? 2. Where was Harrison HATCHER living in Tennessee just prior to his coming to Missouri? 3. Where in Cape Girardeau Co., MO are Harrison HATCHER and selected other members of his family buried? 4. Could Harrison HATCHER and the William HATCHER mentioned above have been brothers?

QRYTEXT: Seeking any information on John EDWARDS, who resided in or near Jackson, MO from ca. 1817 until his death in late 1833 or early 1834. John EDWARDS was born in Stafford Co., VA in 1748; was first U.S. Senator from KY. He lived with a free "mulatto" woman, named Priscilla JOHNSON, in Cape Girardeau Co. for the entire time he was there. They apparently had five children: John, Joseph, Mary, Jane and Sally, all surnamed JOHNSON. Jane JOHNSON married William SHAW possibly in Cape Girardeau Co., date unknown, but probably ca. 1820s. I am also trying to learn if Priscilla JOHNSON would have been required to have a "free black license" and, if so, where I might find it. Many thanks for any help.
