Blair Transcribed by Mary Hudson TEACHERS CONTRACT Section 9209, R.S. 1929, and 1933 Amended Laws, S.B. 257 THIS AGREEMENT, made on the (6th) day of (June) 1939, between (John J. Blair,) a legally qualified public-school teacher, of the first part, and the School Board of District NO. (C6), County of (Butler) State of Missouri, of the second part. WITNESSETH: That the said (John J. Blair) agrees to teach the public school of said District for the term of (nine) months, commencing on the (7th) day of (August) 1939, for the sum of ($100.00) dollars per month, salary to be paid in 10 months, to be paid monthly, and that for services properly rendered and reports correctly made, according to law, said Board agrees to issue warrants upon the (Qulin consolidated School District) Treasurer in favor of the said (John J. Blair) for the amount of wages due under this agreement. This contract is subscribed to with a full understanding of Sections 9205, 9207, 9209, 9210, 9233, 9234, ....... R. (handwritten) This contract is not valid unless signed and returned within five days of receipt DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The school year was interrupted during the month of September for "Cotton Vacation." As head of the new Mathematics Department, my academic assignment was to teach the seventh and eight grade Arithmetic, high school Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry classes, and monitor a Study Hall. Daily assignment was to teach five classes in Mathematics and to monitor a Study Hall. I was the Coach of all high school Athletics, in particular the softball, volleyball, basketball, and track teams, which competed with schools of similar classification. I also sponsored the class of 1942. The salary was $100.00 per month. (signed) John J. The farmers depended on the entire family to harvest the crop. If the school had not made provisions for the children to be out of school during harvest time, there would have been few in attendance as they were needed to help with the cotton crop and would have stayed out of school for this purpose.
