RUSSELL, SQUIRE posted by Ken Morse on Thursday, May 22, 1997

RUSSELL RUSSELL, Alma (b. abt 1850..d. Oct. 24, 1899). Alma's parents, birthplace, birthdate and place of marriage are unknown to us. The name "Alma" may be a nickname, as we have no official documentation on her. Family tradition provides the following: Alma was born abt 1850, and married Hilon Gilbert (given name has various spellings) SQUIRE Dec 18, 1878. She may have been a professional musician, playing the harp. Their children are believed to have been born in Illinois: Russell, Gilbert "Bert", Sarah, Asa, Ina Amy b. Mar. 24 1883, and Frances Augusta b. Feb 19 1885. The family later moved from(Quincy?) Illinois to Butler County, Missouri, near Poplar Bluff. After Alma's death, Hilon went to Seattle, WA and died there 1912. I can reciprocate with information on the ancestry of Hilon and the descendants of Hilon and Alma.

FLOYD posted by Dick Floyd on Saturday, June 21, 1997

Seeking information concerning John FLOYD, shown on the 1840 census for Wayne County, MO. Could he have been the husband of the widowed Sarah FLOYD who appears on the 1850 Butler County, MO census? I am seeking any information concerning what might have happened to Sarah's spouse after they moved from TN to MO prior to 1840. Sarah Floyd married William H. Booton on 12 May 1850 in Butler County, MO. I believe they had a son, Valentine Booton, in about 1853. Willaim H. Booton may have died prior to 1854.
