Research Note: Robert Perkins served in Captain William Martin's Company in Colonel Cannon's 2nd Regiment of Tennessee Mounted Riflemen from Sept. 1813 to Dec. 13. The 2nd was part of General Coffee's brigade that conducted the first campaign into the Creek Nation. They fought the battles of Tallushatchee and Talladega on 3 and 9 November 1813. Robert Perkins may have also served with in Captain William Johnson's Company in Col, Cheatham's 2nd Regiment of TN Militia from Jan. 1814 to May 1814. The regiment was in reserve at the battle of Horseshoe Bend. Robert Perkins and his son William and their slaves were killed by Union soldiers after the battle of Pea Ridge. They were buried in the same grave. Their grave could be found in a grove of pine trees in the Pasley Community on Washburn Prairie in the 1950s. They may have been executed IAW General Order Number 2 wherein accused guerillas were to be summarily hung or shot.
