CCC - Civilian Conservation Corps - Company 1713 was organized at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, in June 1933 and was moved to its location at Roaring River State Park that very same month.

The first company strength of 150 CCC enrollees arrived at Roaring River in June of 1933.

The CCC men built 33 building units, mostly of logs or stone that they quarried, 17 acres of beach improvements, and prepared six acres of landscaping, built a lot of roads and trails. They also completed topographical and linear surveys, build bridges, fire guards, fences, drinking fountains, fish races, garages, and even built a fish hatchery.
