His first known child was born in Missouri about 1859. According to the 1870 census the last child was born in 1868, so he servived the Civil War.

Query: I would like to know more about the family of Elizabeth Jane Watkins Elliott Laney. Her father was Greenberry Watkins and her mother was Nancy Caroline Cole. Greenbury Watkins was from the Northeast. They lived near Madry in Barry County, Mo. I found a will that was Greenbury Watkins's and cannot find it again. I know that Elizabeth married Charles Elliott but do not know when or what happened. She was very obese and ill with arthritis in her later life. She married Archibald McAfee Laney in Christian County in 1890. They moved to Barry County soon after they married. They had Eva Luella Laney in 1892 and in 1896~~Jeremiah Greenbury Laney was born. Jeremiah Greenbury Laney was called up to be trained in the first world war, but as he was his sole support for his mother, He was given a defered rating and he took care of his mother until her death in 1922. Jerry married Nettie Elmina Hall in 1920, and they had 3 daughters, Orpha Laney married Otto Sass and had 2 daughters Ruby Lorean married Harry J Smith and had 4 children of which I am the oldest child, and Lela Marie married Leo Bennett and had one child, Mark Douglas, who passed away December 31, 1976. It was noted that Ralph Curry had provided a copy of the photo. Ruby Couch Hale was also in the photograph. It is the only known photograph of my wife's great-grandmother, Velma Gunnells, as well as Velma's sister Edith. The copy inn Ancestors Unlimited is naturally a bit grainy. Ralph Curry and Ruby Hale were both known to have a copy.
