Surnames PIERCE & COLE Searching for any information about the PIERCE who lived in the Shoals Creek area which was later known as Butterfield from 1870 through the early 1900's Thomas J. PIERCE was born abt 1822/25 somewhere in KY. He is listed as head of household on the 1870 Census of Barry Co MO. with a second wife Louisa LEE PIERCE. Thomas J. PIERCE died in 1888 and his estate was divided between his 8 children and the widow Louisa. Records show an Andrew PIERCE was living in the Butterfield community at the same time. Was this a brother or father of Thomas J. PIERCE? There were also COLE family descendants living in Monett, Mo area as late as 1975 MONETT is only a few miles from Cassvile MO Would appreciate any info on these families. We are searching for parents of Thomas J PIERCE born abt 1822 or 1825 somewhere in KY.

I am looking for Willis ODOM. He moved to Barry County Missouri with his son Lewis and Lewis' wife Margaret MCFARLAND ODOM. Some of their children may have moved with them. Chidrens' names are Eldred, Martha, Dempsey, Rachel, Sally, Betsey, Lety, Willis, Sargent, Leah, William, Louis, Marion, Joseph. Willis ODOM was born May 1762 in South Carolina. Lewis ODOM was born March 17, 1786. They migrated from Kentucky.

John SALMON moved to Barry Co between 1850 and 1860. H had his wife Loucinda,children James B, Anderson, and Nancy/Mary. By the 1860 census Christopher, Thompson and John W had joined the family. In 1870 census it was Loucinda and the same children with one new one - Bartholemu age 7. If anyone has any info on this family, I would love to have it. Thanks, Ginger

Walker b: 1861 MO, George W. b: 1863 MO (my ggrandfather), William b: 1865 MO. Then on 1880 Center, Sebastian, AR cenus where Madison lists his parents birthplaces as TN. I am trying to research a Shem Missouri CARNES. He was born in Georgia but is in the Barry Co. census of 1910 at Shoal Creek township, with his wife and 4 sons. I'm trying to take a Missouri connection since that was his middle name. I'm new at this and just starting out. Any suggestions? I can't find them in Any 1880 census anywhere. Looking for information about this Mrs. WILVER. Cassville Republican, Barry Co., MO, Weekly Paper, Thursday, June 27, 1895 Killed by a Widow: Aurora, MO, June 26, Mrs. John Hanson, armed himself with an ax and going to the house of Mrs. John WILVER, a widow, assaulted her, striking at her several times, each time the victim narrowly escaping death by dodging. Mrs. Wilver finally reached a revolver and opened fire. The first bullet shattered the ax handle, the next hit Mrs. Hanson upon the upper lip, just to the right of the nose, ranging downward, breaking the jaw in several places and landing in the back of the neck at the base of the skull. The trouble grow out of the idea held by Mrs. Hanson that the widow was trying to alienate the affections of her husband. Mrs. Wilver was placed under arrest, Mrs. Hanson was killed.

I am trying to find information on my Grandfather Samuel Clinton McFarland and Grandmother Effie Rachel (Pearl) Hase. They lived in Newton County, Missouri in the 1920s and early 1930s.The town- ship was named Cartmell. My Mother was born in Joplin, Mo. in 1918 and she had a 1/2 brother named Dean Nelson McFarland who lived with his Mother. My Mother is still living, but she can't remember anything. Her name was Peggy June McFarland.
